10-13 - LUKE 20 1-13

scriptures paraphrased to post

  ๐Ÿ•Š️a reading & study ๐Ÿ•Š️

1 - As Jesus was teaching the people in the temple and proclaiming the good news [euaggelรญzล - from eรบ - good, well, and angellล - announce, herald(ing) the good message] the chief priests, scribes and some elders (leaders, authorities) came up 2 and said to him, “Tell us by what authority are you doing these things. Who has given you this authority!” {To teach, and turn over the seller’s tables. ..And how dare! That the people hear good news!} 3 He said to them, “I’ll ask you a question. Tell me, 4 was the baptism of John from heaven or was it from man?”

     5 They discussed it among theirselves. “If we say, ‘From heaven,’ he’ll say, ‘Why didn’t you believe him?’ 6 But if we say, ‘From man,’ the people {this crowd} will stone us, for they’re convinced John was a prophet!” {Can we even imagine, fiery capability, way past stones and swords, would not feature prominently in biblical prophecy? js.} 7 So they told him they didn’t know where John’s baptism came from. 8 And Jesus said, “Neither will I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

     9 And then he told the people a parable, “A man planted a vineyard and he let it out to tenants and then he went into another country for quite a long while. 10 When harvest came, he sent a hired servant to the tenants, so they would give him some of the fruit from the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed. 11 And then he sent another, but they beat and treated him shamefully as they had the first, and sent him away empty-handed as well. 12 And he sent yet a third. This one also they beat and thew out of the vineyard. {Don’t think for one minute, this was a religious/spiritual controversy! Between Jesus and the Pharisees, scribes and Sadducees. This was power and seats, leaders of the nation, seats with Rome. Politics, not religion. Also the Protestant, Catholic wars.. not about faith, per se.. belief, views.. power. Politics.}

     13 Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What shall I do? I’ll send my beloved son, surely they’ll respect him.’”
