GospeL Verses ~ Mark 9:1-13
1 - Jesus said to them, “Truly, I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God having come with power.”
2 Six days later Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and went up a high mountain. And then he became transfigured before them. 3 His clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. 5 And Peter said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good that we are here. Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 6 For he didn’t know what to say, for they were frightened. 7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, “This is my beloved Son, listen to him.” 8 And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone, but Jesus only. (“The” kingdom.) 9 And as they were coming back down the mountain, he charged them not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead. 10 So they kept the matter to their selves, wondering what he meant by rising from the dead.
11 Instead they asked him, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?” 12 And he answered them, “Elijah does come first to restore all. And how is it written of the Son of Man, that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt? 13 And I tell you, Elijah has come, and they did to him just as they pleased, as it’s written of him.”

~ 1John 5:1-5 ~
1 - Everyone believing Jesus is the Christ has been “born of God”, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been “born of him”. 2 We know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commands [entolΓ© - injunction, order, command, ordinance, law]. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commands. And his commands are not burdensome.4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And the victory that has overcome the world—is our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?
