            ☀️ A.M. 2 Timothy 4:1-8

1 - So I solemnly charge — before God and Christ, who will judge [krínō – properly, to separate] the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom — proclaim the message! 2 Be ready in season! And out of season! {Good day or bad day!} Correct, admonish, and convince, with complete patience and teaching [didaché - teaching, doctrine, instruction]. {Redirect with kindness and patience. “Lovest thou me? Feed my sheep.”}

     3 For the time is coming when people won’t endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they’ll gather to themselves teachers to suit their own passions, 4 and they’ll turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into fables.

     5 But as for you, be sober-minded, endure the suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your charge. 6 As for me, I’m being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is near. 7 I’ve fought the good fight, I’ve finished the race, I’ve kept the faith. 8 From now on there’s laid up for me the crown of righteousness [dikaiksuné - righteousness, justice]. {The crown of Life? Not metal.} which the Lord, the just and righteous judge, will award to me on that day and not only to me, but also to all loving his appearing. {I.e. “On that day” is the day of “his appearing”.}

28 - At the last, Jesus, knowing all was then finished, fulfilling the Scripture, said “I thirst.” 29 A jar full of sour wine was there, so they soaked a sponge in it and held it up to him on a hyssop branch. 30 When Jesus tasted the wine, he said, “It’s finished”. And he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. [Finished - teleó - completed, finished, fulfilled, accomplished; from télos - consummation, end-goal, purpose, such as closure with all its results; root tel - reaching the end(aim), well-illustrated by the old pirate's telescope, unfolding in widening scopes until teaching full scope.] {The nature of prophecy, including the Lord’s two advents, excluding of course the crucifixion, that being “finished”.}

     31 Since it was the day of Preparation (of prepping for the Passover feast coming after sunset) so the bodies wouldn’t remain upon the cross on the Sabbath - for that Sabbath (beginning at sunset, not midnight) - was a high Sabbath.  (Jesus died on Passover, was in the grave at 1st U.B. Day, and rose on Firstfruits, fulfilling the Spring holy days like prophecy. And more “perfectly” than seen at first glance.)

     So the Hebrew leaders asked Pilate if their legs might be broken that they might die quickly and be taken away. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw he was already dead, they didn’t break his legs. 34 Yet one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and at once there came out blood and water. 35 He who saw it (John) has borne witness - his testimony is true, and he knows that he is telling the truth - so you also may believe. 36 For all these things took place, fulfilling the Scripture, “Not one of his bones will be broken.” 37 And again another Scripture says, “They will look upon he whom they have pierced.” {On GWT Judgment/discernment/full-world-history-review/& closure for all ‘Day’?}

     38 After this, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the leaders, asked Pilate if he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he and Nocodemus came and took away his body. 39 This is the Nicodemus who earlier had come to Jesus by night (Jn.3:1-21). They came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes. 40 They took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.

     41 Nearby the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So because it was a Jewish day of Preparation (leading to a Sabbath/day of no work, beginning right then as the sun was setting) since the tomb was close at hand, they laid him there.

            ☀️ Romans 5:6-10

6 - For while we were still weak, at the appointed time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person, though perhaps for a good person one would dare to. 8 But God - shows his love for us - in that while we were still sinners [hamartólos - missing the mark] Christ died for us. 9 Since, therefore, we have been justified [dikaioó - justified, acquited] by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. {Imo, cause and effect. Greek orge - passion — cause and effect as opposed to creation as some sort of cardboard replica/ant farm? Imperfection (entropy) is an abyss of potential. Christ Crucified is strong enough to appease eveRy conscience. {See “Crime and Punishment" - Dostoevsky}

     10 So if it was while we were (all) at odds with God, that we were reconciled to him by the death of his Son {Jn.12:32, now or later, wheat and tares, two roles} how much more, now that we aRe reconciled, shall we be saved - by his Life?

27 - And as Jesus was leaving from there, two blind men were following him and crying out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” 28 When he entered the house, the blind men came in, and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe I’m able to do this?” They said, “Yes, Lord.”

     29 Then he touched their eyes, and said, “According to your faith so be it.” 30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus warned them, “See that no one knows about this.” 31 But they went out and spread his fame throughout all the district.

     32 As they were leaving, a demon-oppressed man, suffering and mute, was brought to him. 33 And when the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke. And the crowds marveled, saying, “Never has anything like this been seen in Israel!” 34 But the Pharisees said, “He casts out the demons by the prince of demons!”

     35 Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in the synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction. 36 He cared about and had compassion on the crowds, for they were harassed and helpless, and like sheep with no shepherd. {The world has been returning to.} 37 He told his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful. But the laborers are few. 38 Pray earnestly to the LORD of the harvest, that he will send out laborers into his harvest.” {“Lovest thou me?” he asked. “Feed my sheep.” Jn.21:15, for effective laborers.}

(Still by the sea) 16 - Jesus said to Peter a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter answered, “Yes, Lord, you know I love you.” He said to him, “Tend my sheep.” 17 Then he said to him a third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love me?” Peter felt grieved because he said to him the third time, “Do you love me?” so he said to him, “Lord! You know everything! You know I love you!” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep. 18 Truly, I tell you, when you were young, you would dress yourself and go wherever you wanted, but when you’re old, you’ll stretch out your hands, and another will dress you, and carry you where you don’t want to go.” 19 This he said to show by what kind of death he would suffer, but glorify God by. And after saying it, he said, “Follow me.” {Be sure to follow me, and you will be able to feed my sheep nourishing food at the proper time. ..And not be found confused with the confused, aka with “the world”, nor found of him beating up on other members of the household.. in word, thought or deed. There are many enchantments, it really doesn’t matter which overcomes, a little leaven leavens the whole lump. Not to be confused with Mt.13:33, key word 3.      20 Peter turned and saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them. (This is how John, the author, referred to himself.) The one who also had leaned back against him during supper that night, and said, “Lord, who is it that’s going to betray you?” 21 When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, “Lord, what about him?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If it’s my will he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me.” 23 So after a while the saying spread among all the brothers and sisters that this disciple was not to die. Yet Jesus didn’t say he wasn’t going to die, but, “If, it’s my will he remain until I come, what is that to you?”

     24 This is the disciple who is bearing witness about all these things, and who has written this account of them, and we know his testimony is true. {Saw it with his own eyes.} 25 There are also many other things that Jesus did. But if every one of them were to be written, I suppose the world itself couldn’t contain the books that would be written. {Imagine all that will be accomplished during long second advent! He put on his outer garment - he had stripped for work - and he jumped into the sea and went to shore. 8 The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net with all the fish, for they were not far from land, about a hundred yards out. 9 When they got to land, they saw a charcoal fire set, with some fish laid upon it, and some bread. 10 Jesus said, “Bring some of the fish you just caught!” 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of 153 large fish. (According to His wish and will.) 5 For it wasn’t to angels that God subjected the world to come, of which we are speaking. 6 It has been written, “What is man [anthrōpos - relates to both genders, man, human, mankind] that you are mindful of him? Or the Son of man that you care for him? 7 For a while you made him as a little lower than the angels. But now you have crowned him with glory and honor, 8 having put everything in subjection under his feet.”

Joy

As believers under the shelter of the Almighty, how wonderful it would be to be able to give away the joy he gives us! That’s when he put me on this reading schedule - titled, ‘enter the story’ schedule, or ‘feed my sheep’.

     If the Old Testament bothers you, don’t read it, and entrust it in his hands.

     The fact that all matter, the universe, tends toward falling apart, strongly implies something much greater is behind it. What is greater? Life and Intelligence. And the highest of Life is Love, and the highest of Intelligence is Genius. …If God were not Perfect, he too would fade away. The ‘end’ result of allowing this all important contrast to exist and play out, cannot be anything less than the very best possible ‘end’ result and possibility. (Greek word “tel” - the “end-aim”.)

Peter Said - I’m Going Fishing

I grew up a couple of hours away from the ocean. So I love the verses in the New Testament if they mention the seashore.

We’ve all read the account of Jesus in the morning meeting the apostles on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias.

“Tiberias” I think is another name for Galilee (?)

Yes it is, I looked it up - I have Biblehub’s app, so I have the interlinear study tools on my phone. (Hooray!)

The town of Tiberias is on the west side of the lake, so I’m thinking this means they were on the western shore. It likely was the custom, if you were on the western shore, to call it Sea of Tiberias.

So I was reading this - John chapter 21, where Jesus asks apostle Peter “lovest thou me?” (Ye olde englishe is how I first read it, so it's how I always 'hear' it.)

“Do you love me more - “and it’s usually translated as “more than these others?” or just “more than these”.

But today I was reading it in the Contemporary English Version and it said Jesus was asking “do you love me more than these others do?”

I thought, “what..!? ...No way.. that’s just taking it too far” (out there..) So I just had to read it in the interlinear. Well interlinear says the word used means “this”. Could it possibly be “do you love me more than this?” (Peter had said, “I’m a going fishing!” His livelihood and possibly pastime.. spent much of his life on the sea fishing..)

The language! It’s all Greek to me! I’ve tried trying to figure out the different spellings of the word usages.. Is it noun, verb, adjective..? Does it point forward, backward..? (Is there a sideways?)

So I looked up other translations of that version of the word, and I looked up other translations of the verse, and aha! “The Aramaic Bible in Plain English” translates it as, “do you love me more than these things?” So language wise it may not be an outrageous way of thinking about that verse and scene.

(John 21:15) "Do you love Me more than all this?"

Mark 4:1
"And he began again to teach by the sea. And a great multitude was gathered to Him, so that He got into a boat and sat in it on the sea; and the whole multitude was on the land facing the sea."

Later..

From John 21:1,6,8-9,12

"After these things Jesus showed Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias... `Cast the net on the right side of the boat` ...the disciples ..dragged in the net full of fish.. and they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid thereon, and bread.  And Jesus said to them.. `Come and eat`.."
