            ☀️ A.M. 1John 3:3-9

3 - Everyone who is hoping [elpis - expects, hopes] in him purifies their self as he is pure [hagnos - free of contamination].

     4 Anyone who makes a practice of doing wrong is practicing lawlessness. For sin [hamartia - missing the mark, doing wrong] is lawlessness. 5 You know that he appeared in order to take away all missing the mark {and lawlessness}. And in him there is no sin/missing the mark/imperfection. 6 No one who abides in him, keeps doing wrong, or they have not seen him nor known him. (Which equates to “I never knew you”?)

     7 Little children, don’t let anyone mislead you. Whoever practices doing right is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil [diabolos - in secular Greek means "backbiter," i.e. an accuser (slanderer) diábolos is literally someone who "casts through," i.e. making charges that bring down (destroy) from diaballó - to bring charges with hostile intent] for the devil has been doing wrong from the beginning. {Of creation. God’s patience is shown by his waiting for the first bound to occur rebel thought to not only occur, but to ripen into outright sedition. So “all in heaven and earth” (man and angel) would take this unavoidable journey/lesson all together at once.}

     It’s for this reason the Son 

of God appeared and was revealed, to destroy 

[luó - loose, release, dissolve] the works [érgon - work, deed (action) that carries out and completes the intention and purpose] of the devil. 9 No one born of God makes a practice of sinning. God's seed abides in them and they cannot keep on sinning, because they have been born of God.

30 - After being sent out, the apostles [apostolos - sent ones] returned and told Jesus all they had done and taught. 31 And he said to them, “Come away by yourselves to be alone and rest a while.” For many were coming and going, and they had no opportunity even to eat. 32 So they went in the boat to a place alone. 33 But many who were there from all the towns, saw them going and ran ahead on foot and got there before them. {Now that’s enthusiasm, I’m totaLLy convinced, his so brief first advent is a small replica of his long second advent!}

     34 When they reached shore, there was a great crowd, and Jesus had compassion, because they were like sheep with no shepherd. And so he taught them many things.

     35 When it grew late, his disciples came and said, “This is a desolate place, and the hour is late. 36 Should we send them away to go into the surrounding countryside and villages to find food?” 37 But he answered, “You feed them.” So they said, “Shall we go and buy two hundred denarii worth of bread?” 38 And he said, “How many loaves do you have? Go and see.” And so they did, and they came back and said, “Five, and two fish.”

     39 Then he told all sit down in groups on the grass. 40 So they sat down in groups, by hundreds and fifties. 41 And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, said a blessing, broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples to hand out to the people. And he divided also the two fish among them all.

     42 And they were all satisfied. {Ultimately all of us, with what he teaches us and feeds us. The sheep of his pasture.} 43 And they took up twelve baskets full of leftover pieces of bread and fish. 44 And those who ate the loaves were about five thousand.

     45 Then he had his disciples get into the boat and go ahead of him to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he stayed and sent the people away to their homes.

15 - In your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy {sacred, above reproach} always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason of the hope [elpis - expectation, trust, confidence] that’s in you, yet with gentleness and respect, 16 having a good conscience, so when you’re slandered, those who insult your good behavior in Christ will know otherwise.

     17 It’s better to suffer for doing good, if that be God's will, than for doing evil. 18 For Christ also suffered once for sins [harmartia - missing the mark, falling short, imperfection, wrongs] the righteous on behalf of the unrighteous {the perfect on behalf of the imperfect} that he might bring us to God. Though having been put to death, but alive however in spirit. 19 Same as he went and proclaimed to the spirits under guard {locked into the coming deluge} 20 because in the old time, they didn’t obey, when was waiting God's patience in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight persons, were brought safely through. 21 {Same Spirit at work with each one of us.} And baptism, which corresponds to this {perishing of the self centered/self first carnality} now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body {bodily bathing} but as an appeal to God for a clear conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 who has gone into heaven, and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been made subject to him.

22 - Judas (not Iscariot, Jude) said to him, “Lord, how is it that you’ll reveal yourself to us, and not to the world?” 23 Jesus answered, “If anyone loves me, they’ll keep my word, and my Father will love them, and we’ll come and make our home with them.

     24 But whoever doesn’t love me doesn’t keep my words. And the word/message you’ve heard isn’t mine but the Father's who sent me.

     25 These things I’ve spoken to you while I’m still with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit {/Presence of God} which the Father will send in my name, will teach you all and bring to your remembrance all I’ve said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you, and not as the world gives, so don’t let your hearts be troubled, nor let them be afraid. 28 You heard me say, I’m going away, and will come to you, if you love me, rejoice. Because I’m going to the Father, and the Father is greater than I. 29 And now, I’ve told you before it happens, so when it does take place you’ll believe. 30 Not much longer will I talk with you, for the ruler of this world is coming.             ☀️ Romans 8:17-25

17 - And if we’re (His) sons and daughters, then we’re heirs. Heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. {Following after Jesus just naturally includes some societal disadvantages, sometimes even in the extreme, plus life’s regular hardships, sorrows, etc.}

     18 For I consider that the sufferings of these present ages aren’t worth mentioning, compared with the glory that is to be revealed! 19 All creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility {imperfection/“missing the mark”/entropy} not willingly, but HE subjected it, in expectation [elpis - expectation, trust, confidence] {which translators translate as “hope”. Especially in this case however, it’s not like God aLmighty - who created the vast universe (via a bang into the universe as is, theN it was set in motion) and the great array of life, as but a small clue to his abilities - is merely hoping things go as he wants!} 21 (In expectation/planning/design) that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption {entropy, and predator-ness} and obtain the freedom, glory and blessedness of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation is always groaning together as in pain of childbirth. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit. We groan inwardly for the {full} adoption as sons and daughters, as we await the redemption of our bodies. [Redemption - apolýtrōsis - from apó - from, and lytróō - redeem – properly, redemption– literally, buying back from, re-purchasing (winning back) what was previously forfeited (lost).] 24 For it’s in this hope [expectation!] that we are saved! [Sózó - saved, rescued, delivered, healed, preserved.] Now expectation [elpizo] that’s seen isn’t expectation. For who is expecting what they see? Or who would be expecting what they already see? 25 But if we’re expecting what we don’t yet see, then we’re waiting for it with patience.

            🌙 Matthew 12:14-21

14 - So the Pharisees who were there (some leaders of the nation of the Pharisee party) left. And they called together a meeting and conspired together how they might destroy Jesus.

     15 Knowing this, Jesus moved on from there. And many people were following after him, and he healed them all, 16 and told them not to make him known. 17 This is as was spoken by the prophet Isaiah - 18 “Behold, my servant, chosen and beloved of me, with whom my soul is well pleased. I will put my Spirit{/Presence} upon him. And he will proclaim justice to the nations. 19 He won’t quarrel. Nor will he cry out. You won’t hear his voice in the public square. 20 A bruised reed he is not going to break, and a smoldering wick he is not going to put out. Not until he brings justice to victory! 21 For it’s in his name that the nations will trust.” [Elpizó - expect, trust, hope].

☀️ 8 -  For we [Paul, Timothy and others] don’t want you to be unaware of how much we suffered in Asia. We were so utterly burdened beyond our endurance that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt like we had received the sentence of death. But! That was to make us rely, not upon ourselves, but upon God, who raises the dead.

     10 He delivered us from deadly peril, and he will continue to deliver us. On him we have set our hope [elpizó - to hope, expect and trust] that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by your prayers, so everyone will be thankful for the blessing granted to us because of their prayers.

"The God Of Our Salvation"

This is from Andrew Murray's "Waiting On God", from chapter one which is titled "The God Of Our Salvation" and begins with a verse from Psalms "My soul waits only upon God [marg: is silent unto God]; from Him comes my salvation." Ps 62:1

- "The deep need for this waiting on God lies equally in the nature of man and in the nature of God. God as Creator formed man to be a vessel in which He could show forth His power and goodness. Man was not to have in himself a fountain of life, or strength, or happiness. The ever-living and only living One was each moment to be the Communicator to him of all that he needed. Man's glory and blessedness was not to be independent, or dependent upon himself, but dependent on a God of such infinite riches and love. Man was to have the joy of receiving every moment out of the fulness of God... when he fell from God, he was still more absolutely dependent on Him. There was not the slightest hope of his recovery out of his state of death, but in God, His power and mercy. It is God alone who began the work of redemption. It is God alone who continues and carries it on each moment in each individual believer. Even in the regenerate man there is no power of goodness in himself. He has and can have nothing that he does not each moment receive; and waiting on God is just as indispensable, and must be just as continuous and unbroken, as the breathing that maintains his natural life."
