GospeL Verses ~ Mark 2:13-22
13 - Jesus went out again, and was beside the sea. The people were coming to him, following along, and he was teaching them as they went. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi (Matthew) the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And Levi rose and followed after him.
15 And as he reclined at table later, in Matthew’s house, many tax collectors [hebrew tax collectors for Rome] and sinners were at the table with Jesus and his disciples, for many were listening to him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”17 When Jesus heard it, he said, “Those who are well” (think they are righteous, without flaw) “have no need of a physician, but those who are not well. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”
18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees often fasted. And some came and said to Jesus, “Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t?” 19 Jesus said, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they won’t fast. 20 The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away, and then they will fast. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the wine will burst the skins, the wine will be destroyed, and so will the skins. But new wine is for a new, fresh wineskin.” (Fasting can help to overcome in our growth toward the “new man”/person.)

~ Hebrews 10:23-29 ~
23 - Let us hold fast the confession [homologia - an agreement, homoú - the same, together, and légō - speak to a conclusion, lay to rest, properly, a conclusion embraced by common confession, profession, affirmation] of our hope [elpís - expectation, hope, from elpō - to anticipate, welcome – properly, expectation of what is sure/certain] without wavering. For he who promised is faithful! 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love, and to good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another. And all the more as you see the Day drawing near. 26 For if we go on deliberately sinning [greek (deliberately) “missing the mark”] after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for (the consciousness of?) sins, 27 but a fearful expectation of judgment (consequences) and a fury of fire that is about to (at that time) consume the adversary.
28 Listen, anyone who set aside the law of Moses died without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. (Sorry but the purpose was to preserve the nation and society.) 29 How much worse punishment [timória - punishment, penalty] (consequences) will one - deserve - who has trampled [katapateó - to trample, spurn, tread] underfoot the Son of God? And has esteemed as ordinary the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified (so richly blessed) and has insulted the Spirit of grace [charitos - (the Spirit of) grace and kindness]?
