GospeL Verses ~ Luke 7:1-10
1 - After he had finished teaching the people, he went to Capernaum. 2 There was a centurion who had a servant (worker) who was highly valued by him, who was sick and at the point of death. 3 When the centurion heard about Jesus, he sent to him elders of the Jews/Hebrews, asking him to come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, in all earnestness they said, “The centurion is worthy, 5 for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.” 6 Jesus went with them. And when he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying, “Lord, don’t trouble yourself, for I’m not worthy to have you come under my roof. 7 And I didn’t presume to come to you, just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 8 For I too am a man with authority, with soldiers under me, and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 9 When Jesus heard this, he marveled, and turning to the crowd that was following him, he said, “I tell you, not even in all of Israel have I found such faith!” 10 And when those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the servant well.

14 - Now when people talk like that, it’s clear they’re seeking a fatherland. 15 If they had been thinking of the land they had gone out from [Egypt] they would have found a way to return. 16 But as it is, they look-toward [oregontai - stretch out, reach after, look forward to] a better homeland (a better reality!) that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
