GospeL Verses ~ Jn.20:1-18 Mt.28:1-10

Jn.20:1 - On the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, and saw the stone had been taken away from the opening. 2 So she ran and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved (John) and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb! And - we - don’t know where they have taken him.” 3 So Peter and the other disciple were going toward the tomb, 4 both of them running together, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first. 5 And stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but didn’t go in. 6 Then Simon Peter came and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there, 7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, folded and lying in a place by itself. 8 Then the other disciple, who had reached the tomb first, went in, and saw and believed. 9 But as yet they didn’t understand the Scripture, how it said he must rise from the dead. 10 Then they went back to their homes.

11 But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb, and as she wept she stooped and looked inside. 12 And she saw two angels in white, sitting where the body of Jesus had been, one at the head and one at the feet. 13 They said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “They have taken away my Lord, and I don’t know where they have taken him.” 14 Having said this, she turned around and saw Jesus, but she didn’t know it was him. 15 Jesus said, “Woman, why are you weeping? Who are you looking for?” And supposing him to be the gardener, she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away, please tell me where you have taken him, and I will take him.” 16 Jesus said to her, “Mary.” She turned and said to him in Aramaic, “Rabboni!” which means Teacher. 17 Jesus said, “Don’t cling to me, for I’ve not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’” 18 Mary Magdalene went and announced to the disciples, “I have seen the Lord!” and told them what he had said to her.

MT.28:1 - Now after the Sabbath, toward dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 And behold, there was a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord had come down from heaven and had rolled back the stone and was sitting on it. 3 His appearance was radiant like lightning and his clothing white as snow. 4 The guards trembled and became like dead men. 5 But the angel said to the women, “Don’t be afraid, for I know you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6 He’s not here, for he has risen, as he said he would. Come, see the place where he lay. 7 Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and he is going before you to Galilee. And there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8 So they departed quickly from the tomb with wonder and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9 But Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid, go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” (Eye witness accounts, especially years later, always differ. We are suspicious if they don’t.)

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                           ~ ~ Jude 1:1-6 ~ ~

1 - Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James (both natural brothers of Jesus) - To those who are called, beloved in God the Father, and kept for Jesus Christ - 2 May mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

3 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common faith, I found it necessary instead to write and urge you to contend for the faith that was first and once for all proclaimed and delivered. 4 For certain people have crept in who long ago were designated for this condemnation! Ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and license, and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

5 Now I want to remind you, although you once were fully aware of it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward those who did not believe perished (earthly). 6 And the angels who left their original place and position, and proper place, he has kept in unbreakable ‘chains’ until the judgment of the great day. (Locked into their darkness, having become rebellious and evil, they cannot change their course back to their blessed state.)
