GospeL Verses ~ John 20:30-21:6

30 - Now Jesus did many other signs while with the disciples, which aren’t written down in this book. 31 But these that are, are written so you will believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.

     21 A while later, after these things, Jesus revealed himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias (another name for the sea of Galilee). 2 Simon Peter, Thomas, called the Twin, Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples were together, when 3 Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” And the others said, “We’ll go too.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they didn’t catch a thing.

     4 Then, just as day was breaking, there was Jesus standing on the shore. But the disciples didn’t know it was him. 5 Jesus called out to them, “Children, do you have any fish?” They answered, “No.” 6 He said, “Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.” So they threw it out, and now they were not able to haul it back in, because of the number of fish in the net.

1 - So! We must pay close attention to what we have heard. Lest we drift away from it! 2 The message that was declared by angels was unchangeable, and every wrong and disobedience [parakoé - a hearing amiss, by impl. straying] received a just retribution [misthapodosía - from misthós - reward, and apodídōmi - return, give back, compensation, wage] 3 how then shall we escape [ekpheugó - flee away, escape] if we neglect such a great salvation? (If we neglect the escape!) This great salvation was first declared by the Lord, and it was confirmed to us by those who heard him say it.
