GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 27:62-66

[Notes: First Day of Unleavened Bread is the actual Sabbath holy day of Spring holy week. Not every holy day is a Sabbath. Passover is the day of “preparing” the Passover, which meal is eaten after sunset so upon First Day of Unleavened Bread, the days of course beginning at sunset rather than midnight.] (Night before day.. Imperfect life, before breathtaking perfection.) Mt.27:62 - The next day the day after the day of Preparation the leaders - the chief priests and the Pharisees - gathered before Pilate 63 and said, “Sir, we remember how that impostor said while he was alive, after three days he would rise. 64 Therefore order the tomb to be made secure until after the third day, lest his disciples steal him away and tell the people he has risen from the dead, and the last lie will be worse than the first.” 65 Pilate said to them, “You have a guard of soldiers. Go and make it as secure as you can.” 66 And so they made the tomb secure by setting fast the stone and then setting a guard to watch. [Setting fast - asphalizó - to make firm, secure, from asphalés ..asphalt surely! asphalḗs - from A not, and sphallō - totter, aka secure, certain. 🤓 A little word trivia.]

[A secretary and scribe for Paul and others, wrote one of the gospels logically by interviews.] 12 Tychicus I have sent to Ephesus. 13 When you come, bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas, also the books [biblion - a paper, book, a papyrus roll, from biblos - the inner bark of a papyrus plant, hence a scroll] and above all the parchments [membrana - parchment leaf, latin origin]. 14 Alexander the coppersmith did me great wrong, the Lord will repay him according to his deeds. 15 Beware of him yourself, for he strongly opposed our message. 16 No one was here to stand up for my defense, all deserted me. May it not be counted against them! 17 But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me so the message might be fully proclaimed and all the gentiles/of the nations might hear it. And so I was rescued from the lion's mouth.18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil work and will bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

     19 Greet Priscilla and Aquila (Paul, not married, not overly praising of women, came to list Priscilla before Aquila) and also the household of Onesiphorus. 20 Erastus remained at Corinth, and I left Trophimus, who was ill, at Miletus. 21 Do your best to come before winter. Eubulus sends greetings, as does Pudens, Linus, Claudia and all the others.  22 The Lord be with your spirit. And grace be with you.
