GospeL Verses ~ Luke 3:1-6
1 - It was in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, and Herod was tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip was tetrarch of the region of Ituraea and Trachonitis, and Lysanias was tetrarch of Abilene. 2 And Annas and Caiaphas were high priests of the nation, when the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness. 3 So he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sin [hamartia - missing the mark]. 4 As it is written by Isaiah the prophet, he was “the voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘make ready the way of the LORD! Make a straight path! 5 For every valley will be filled, every mountain and hill shall be made low, and the crooked shall become straight! The rough places will become level. 6 And all flesh will see [horaó - see, perceive, attend to] the salvation of God.’”

~ Hebrews 6:19-7:3 ~
19 - We have all this as an anchor of the soul that is sure and unshakeable and enters into the very inner place [of God’s Presence/Friendship] behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus has gone as a forerunner on our behalf, having become, by the things he suffered, high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek. [Remember at Jesus’ death, the heavy curtain of the temple was torn in two.]
7:1 For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, met Abraham when he was returning from the war of the kings and blessed him. 2 And Abraham tithed to him a tenth of all he had. And by translation of his name, he is first of all king of righteousness, and then he is king of Salem, or that is, king of peace. 3 No father or mother is recorded, nor genealogy, seeming to have no beginning of days nor end of life, but as a foreshadow of the Son of God, he is a priest forever.
