🍃🕊️12/26 - GospeL Verses 🍃🕊️
13 - Later, after they (the Chaldean “wise men”) had come and departed, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you, for Herod is about to search for the child in order to destroy him.” {Rev.12:4} 14 And so he did, rising up and with the child and his mother Mary, departed to Egypt that very night. 15 They remained there until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken by the prophet, “Out of Egypt I called my son.” [Hosea 11:1]
16 But Herod, when he saw he had been outsmarted by the wise men, became enraged and sent out soldiers, ordering that all the male children in the Bethlehem region be killed, who were two years old or under, according to the time Herod had ascertained from the wise men. 17 Then was fulfilled what was spoken by the prophet Jeremiah - 18 “A voice was heard in Ramah (where Rachel’s tomb was just outside of Bethlehem) weeping and loud lamentation, Rachel weeping for her children, she refused to be comforted, because they are no more.”
19 Then, when Herod died, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, 20 saying, “Take now the child and his mother and go to the land of Israel, for he who sought the child's life is dead.” 21 And so he took the child and his mother and they went to the land of Israel. 22 But when he heard that Archelaus was reigning over Judea in place of his father Herod, he was afraid to go there, and being warned in a dream, he went instead to the district of Galilee, 23 to a city called Nazareth, and lived there. And so what was spoken by the prophet was fulfilled, that he would be called a Nazarene. [Nazareth likely named after netzer/branch, which Messiah was called in Isaiah 11:1.]
