ACTS 18 17-28

         WeekLy BooK oF Acts

17 - And after that the mob seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But proconsul Gallio paid no attention to any of it.

18 Paul stayed a while longer in Corinth [a year and a half all together] and then he took leave of the brothers and sisters and set sail for Syria. Priscilla and Aquila went with him. At Cenchreae he cut his hair, as part of a vow. 19 And they arrived at Ephesus, whereupon he went to the synagogue and reasoned with the Hebrews (Jews). 20 They asked him to stay longer, 21 but he said, “I’ll return to you if God wills,” and he set sail from Ephesus.

22 When he landed at Caesarea, he went up (to Jerusalem) and greeted the church, and then he went down to Antioch. 23 After spending some time there, he departed and went from one place to the next through the region of Galatia and Phrygia, strengthening all the disciples.

24 Meanwhile a Hebrew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent speaker, competent in the Scriptures. 25 He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately [akribós - with exact precision] the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only about the baptism of John. 26 He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, and when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more fully. {Explaining the blessing of the Holy Spirit, the Presence of God the Father with us.} 27 And when he wished to cross to Achaia (of Greece) the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to make him welcome. When he arrived in Corinth, he was a great help to those who through grace believed, 28 for he persuasively refuted the non believing Hebrews in the synagogue, showing by the Scriptures that Jesus was the Christ [Christos - anointed one, messiah].
