LUKE 2 21-38

   🍃🕊️12/25 - GospeL Verses 🍃🕊️

21 - And eight days later, he was circumcised, and named Jesus, the name given by the angel Gabriel before he was conceived in the womb. 22 And when the time came for their purification [katharismos] according to the Law of Moses, they brought him up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord 23 because it’s written in the Law of the LORD, “Every male who opens the womb shall be called holy to the Lord” 24 and to offer the sacrifice, “a pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.”

     25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and he was righteous and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by God’s Spirit that he would not see death before he had seen the LORD’s Messiah. 27 And Simeon came in the Spirit(/Presence of God) into the temple, and when Mary and Joseph brought in the child Jesus, to do as according to the Law, 28 Simeon took him into his arms, and blessing God said, 29 “Lord, now your servant can depart in peace, according to your word {to me} 30 for my eyes have seen your salvation! 31 The salvation you’ve prepared before all people, 32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory to your people Israel.” {I.e, “See Jesus ..Follow.}

     33 And Joseph and Mary marveled at what was said. 34 Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, “This child is appointed for the fall and rising of many in Israel. And for a sign spoken against. 35 A sword will pierce your own soul also. And the thoughts from many hearts will be revealed.”

    36 And there was a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, as a maiden, having lived with her husband seven years, 37 and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never went out from the temple, but worshiped with fasting and prayer night and day. 38 And coming near at that very hour, she began to give thanks to God and to speak about him to all who were waiting for the redemption of Jerusalem.
