12/17 ~ From New Testament Letters
🕊️ (In the Order Believed Written)
8 - For we [Paul, Timothy and others] don’t want you to be unaware of the suffering we experienced in Asia. We were so utterly burdened beyond our endurance that we despaired of life itself. 9 Indeed, we felt like we had received the sentence of death! But that was to make us rely, not on ourselves, but upon God who raises the dead. 10 He delivered us from deadly peril, and he will continue to deliver us. On him we have set our hope [elpizó - to hope, expect, trust] that he will deliver us again. 11 You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted to us through the prayers of many.
12 For our boast is this - we have peace of conscience, that we have behaved in the world with simplicity and with godly sincerity. Not by earthly wisdom, but by the grace of God. And toward you, abundantly so! 13 There is no hidden meaning in what I write and what you read. What you read you read rightly in its plain and simple sense in the hope you will fully understand, 14 just as you have already, partially understood. And on the day of our Lord Jesus, we shall rejoice together! And celebrate each other.
