2 Corinthians 5 10-21

12/26 ~ From New Testament Letters

🕊️ (In the Order Believed Written)

10 - For we must all appear before the judgment-seat [bema - in ancient Greek and Roman culture, a béma was a platform where officials would sit to hear legal cases, deliver public addresses, or proclamations often located in public squares or forums, a common feature in the cities of the Roman Empire; literally, a tribunal-chair for rewards and penalties to be given, or in Greek games, the rewards, metals or honors] of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what they have done in the body {of Christ? ..as before that, is “nailed to the cross with Christ” and “not judged”} - whether - good or evil {not good}. 11 Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade others to God. And what we are, is known to God! And I hope it is known also to you.

12 We’re not commending ourselves to you again, but are giving you cause to boast about us, so that you may be able to answer those who boast about outward appearance {status; and what can be hypocrisy/psuedo, not genuine} and not about what is in the heart. 13 For if we are beside ourselves, it’s for God. And if we’re in our right mind, it’s for you.14 For the love of Christ controls us, because we have realized and concluded that one has died for all, since all die. 15 And he died for all, so those living may no longer live for themselves, but for the one who for their sake died, and was raised.

16 From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to outward appearance . Even though we once regarded Christ that way, we do so no longer. 17 Because if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. The old has passed away, and behold, the new has come. 18 All this is from God - who through Christ, reconciled us to himself - and gave us the work of reconciliation. 19 For, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself - not recognizing or taking into account faults or trespasses, and has entrusted to us the message of reconciliation. 20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us as we implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 21 For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we become [gínomai – properly, to emerge, become, transitioning from one point (realm, condition) to another; fundamentally - to become, be made into, transformed into] the righteousness {rightness} oF God.
