          Luke 14:25-35

25 Large crowds were walking along with Jesus, when he turned and said, 26 You cannot be my disciple, unless you love me more than you love your father and mother, your wife and children, and your brothers and sisters. You cannot follow me unless you love me moRe than you love your own life. 27 And whoever does not carry their cross and follow me cannot be my disciple. [Or, You cannot be my disciple unless you carry your own cross and follow me.] 28 Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost to see if you have enough money to complete the building? 29 Otherwise, you will start building the tower, but not be able to finish. Then everyone who sees what is happening will laugh at you. 30 'You began to build but can't finish the job!' they will say. 31 What will a king do if he has only ten thousand soldiers to defend himself against a king who is about to attack him with twenty thousand soldiers? Before he goes out to battle, won't he first sit down and decide if he can win? 32 If he thinks he won't be able to defend himself, he will send messengers and ask for peace while the other king is still a long way off. 33 So therefore, any one of you who does not give up/lay aside all he has cannot be my disciple. (πŸ€”We are still β€˜sinners’ - hamartians, β€œmissing the mark” but the hamartia is overlooked. We are accepted. We should be willing to give up all? But I don’t think we need to wander Earth as homeless? Greek is always(?) present tense.. Those not giving up (renouncing) all they have..) 34 Salt is good, but if it were to lose its saltiness, what good would it be? 35 It would be unfit for the soil (soul) or compost pile, so it would be thrown out.”

   ~ 2 Thessalonians 1:1-12 ~

1 - From Paul, Silas, and Timothy--To the people of the church in Thessalonica, who belong to God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Grace and peace to you from God the Father and the Lord Jesus. 3 Dear brothers and sisters, we can’t help but thank God for you, because your faith is flourishing and your love for one another is growing. 4 We proudly tell God’s other churches about your endurance and faithfulness in all the persecutions and hardships you are suffering. 5 God will use this persecution to show his justice and to make you worthy of his Kingdom, for which you are suffering. 6 In his justice he will pay back those who persecute you. (Earthly and spiritual!) 7 And to grant relief to you who are oppressed and to us as well. This will take place when the Lord Jesus comes from heaven with his powerful angels, 8 in a fire of flame (at the Lord’s return is the first mention of a lake of fire) inflicting [didΓ³mi - giving, placing, pouring, allowing] vengeance [ekdikΓ©sis - vengeance, vindication, justice, defense] upon those not knowing [eidΓ³ - being aware, beholding, considering, appreciating, knowing] God, and upon the not obeying [hupakouΓ³ - listening to, attending to] the gospel of the Lord Jesus. 9 Who will suffer the justice of destruction [olethros - destruction, doom, ruin] and of aiΓ³nios [agelong, agelasting] away from the presence [prosΓ³pon - the face] of the LORD and from the glory of the power [ischus - strength, might, ability] (almightiness) of Him. 10 This will happen on that (the) day (Mt.13:30 =β€˜s Rev.16:13-16) when the Lord returns, to be glorified in the saints [hagios - sacred, holy, set apart by and for God] and to be marveled at in [en - in, on, among] all them that believed. This includes you, because you believed our testimony. 11 Because of this we always pray for you that God would make you worthy of your calling, and powerfully bring to fulfillment every good purpose and and make the work of faith (in you) complete. 12 We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you. And you in him. According to the grace of our God, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
