         Luke 10:21-28

21 At that same time, Jesus felt the joy that comes from the Holy Spirit, and he said, My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike. Yes Father, for this was well-pleasing in Your sight.

22 My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” 23 Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.”

25 One day an expert in religious law stood up to test Jesus by asking him this question: “Teacher, what should I do to inherit eternal life?” 26 Jesus replied, “What does the law of Moses say?” (To Israel, pre-crucifixion of Christ.) “How do you read it?” 27 The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.’ And, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” [PlΓ©sion - near, neighboring, description includes “any other person, thy fellow person, thy neighbor”.] 28 “You have answered correctly,” Jesus said. “Do this and you will live.”

[In tomorrow’s study, the lawyer asks “who is my neighbor?”]

          ~ James 3:3-6 ~

3 We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. 4 It takes strong winds to move a large sailing ship, but the captain uses only a small rudder to make it go in any direction. 5 So also the tongue is a small thing, yet it boasts of great things! And consider how small a spark can set a great forest on fire! 6 And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting the entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, being itself set on fire by ‘hell’ [gehenna] itself. (By the ‘hell’ of deep misery. And can set ones day, or life, on fire.)
