          Luke 11:37-54

37 As Jesus was speaking, one of the Pharisees invited him home for a meal. So he went in and took his place at the table. 38 His host was surprised to see that he sat down to eat without first performing the hand-washing ritual required by Jewish custom. (A manmade rule.) 39 Then the Lord said to him, “You Pharisees are so careful to clean the outside of the cup and the dish, but inside are full of plundering and wickedness. 40 You senseless [Γ‘phrōn – an adjective, derived from A - without, and phrαΈ—n - inner perception; lack of insight and knowledge] ones. Did not the one who made the outside make the inside also? 41 But now as for what is within, give charity [eleΓ©mosunΓ© - mercy, pity, gifts] (instead of plundering) and behold, all, will become clean. 42 What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. 43 Woe to you Pharisees, for you love to sit in the seats of honor in the synagogues and receive respectful greetings as you walk in the marketplaces. 44 But you are in for trouble, for you are like unmarked graves that people walk on without knowing it. 45 One of the experts in the law (a professional?) a teacher of the law of Moses, answered him, “Teacher, when you say these things, you insult us also!” 46 “Yes,” said Jesus, “what sorrow also awaits you experts in religious law, for you load people with burdens hard to bear, but you yourselves will not lift a finger to touch the burden. (Big double standard.) 47 Woe to you, because you build monuments for the prophets, and it was your ancestors who killed them. 48 So you are witnesses and approve of what they did, and you build their tombs.  49 Because of this, God in his wisdom said, ‘I will send prophets and apostles to them, but they will kill some and persecute the others.’ 50 As a result, this generation” (who even then were plotting to have Jesus executed) “will be held responsible for the murder of all God’s prophets from the creation of the world, 51 from the murder of Abel to the murder of Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the sanctuary. Yes, it will certainly be charged against this generation.” (EARTHLY judgment, 70 A.D.) 52 Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You do not enter yourselves, and you hinder others from entering.” 53 As Jesus was leaving, the teachers of religious law and the Pharisees became hostile and tried to provoke him with many questions, 54 wanting to catch him in something he might say.

From New Testament Letters

           ~ James 4:12-17 ~

12 God alone, who gave the law, is the Judge. He alone has the power to save or to destroy. So what right do you have to judge your neighbor?  [PlΓ©sion - near, neighboring, thy fellow person.] 13 Look here, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit.” 14 How do you know what your life will be like tomorrow? Your life is like the morning mist—it’s here a little while, then it’s gone. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If the Lord is willing, we will live and do this or that.” 16 But now you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. (NotGood). 17 So then, whoever knows what is right but doesn't do it is sinning [hamartia - “missing the mark”, off target.]
