         Mark 10:28-34

28 Then Peter said to Jesus, “"We have given up everything to follow you." 29 “Yes,” Jesus answered, “and I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for my sake and for the Good News, 30 will receive a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property—along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life. 31 But many who are first will be last, and many last will be first.” 32 They were on their way to Jerusalem. Jesus was leading the way, and the disciples, and those following, were (what sounds like psyched out) astonished/in wonder, because Jesus told them again he would suffer many things in Jerusalem. 33 “Listen,” he said, “we’re going up to Jerusalem, where the Son of Man will be betrayed to the leaders and the teachers of the law. They will sentence him to die and hand him over to the Romans. 34 They will mock him, spit on him, flog him, and kill him, but after three days he will rise again.”

           ~ James 2:1-8 ~

1 - My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus if you favor some people over others? 2 Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in old shabby clothes also comes in. 3 If you give special attention and a good seat to the rich person, but you say to the poor one, “You can stand over there, or else sit on the floor”—well, 4 have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? 5 Listen, my dear brothers and sisters: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him? 6 But you dishonor the poor! Who are the ones who oppress you and drag you before the judges? The rich! 7 Don't they curse the good name [of Jesus], the name you are called by? 8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. [Or, another version - You will be doing the right thing if you obey the law of the Kingdom, which is found in the scripture, "Love your neighbor as you love yourself." - Good News Translation.]
