          Luke 9:51-62

51 As the time drew near for him to be taken up to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. 52 He sent messengers ahead to a Samaritan village to prepare for his arrival. 53 But the people did not receive him, because his face was set toward Jerusalem. 54 When disciples James and John saw it, they said, “Lord, do you want us to tell fire to come down from heaven and consume them?” 55 But Jesus turned and corrected them and said, 'You have not known of what (sort of) spirit you are! 56 For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives! But to save them.” And so they went on to another village.

     57 As they were walking along the road, a man said to him, “I will follow you wherever you go!” 58 But Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens to live in, and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” 59 To another he said, “Follow me.” But the man said, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” 60 Jesus answered, "Let the dead bury their dead. But you go and proclaim the Kingdom of God!" 61 Another said, “Yes, Lord, I will follow you, but first let me say good-bye to my family.” 62 But Jesus told him, “Anyone who puts a hand to the plow and then looks back is not” [yet] “fit for the Kingdom of God.”

           ~ James 1:16-22 ~

16 So don’t be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. 17 Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father, who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes. He does not cast a shifting shadow. 18 He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of FIRSTfruits of all he created. 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry. 20 Human anger does not achieve God's righteous purpose. 21 So get rid of all such bad behavior and all wicked conduct. Instead be humble and accept the message, the ingrafted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be a doer of the word and not a hearer only. Obey God's message, don’t fool yourselves by just listening to it.
