GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 11:11-19

11 - “Truly, I tell you, among those born of woman there has risen no one greater than John the Baptist. Yet the one who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12 From the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven has been taken hold of with enthusiasm, and the eager in pursuit take it! 13 All (which) indeed the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John, 14 and, if willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. (The Spirit of Elijah also released at the first Pentecost following the crucifixion and resurrection?)15 He who has ears to hear, let him hear. 16 “But to what shall I compare this generation? [Genea - race, family, generation, if repeated twice or with another time word, practically indicates infinity of time (all humanity?)] It is like children sitting and calling to their playmates, 17 ‘We played the flute for you, and you didn’t dance, we sang a dirge, and you didn’t mourn.’ 18 For John came not eating or drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon!’ 19 The Son of Man comes eating, and drinking, and they say, ‘Look! A glutton and a drunkard! A friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by the fruit it yields.”

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                  ~ Romans 6:17-23 ~

17 - But thanks be to God, that you (we) who were slaves to error have become obedient from the heart to the teaching. 18 And having been set free, have become slaves of all that is right. 19 I am speaking in human terms, because of the natural human limitations. For just as you once presented your self as a slave to impurity [akatharsia - from A - not and katharós - clean, pure – (so) contamination] and lawlessness, ever leading to more lawlessness, now present your self as a slave to righteousness leading to sanctification [hagiasmos - from hágios - holy - the process of advancing in holiness, the believer being progressively transformed by the Lord into His likeness]. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free from righteousness. 21 But what fruit were you getting then? From the things of which you are now ashamed? And those things result ultimately in death. 22 But now that you have been set free from all that, and have become bonded to God, the fruit you reap leads to sanctification and its result, nonfading life. 23 For the wage of sin is death, but the free gift of God - is enduring [aiṓnios - does not focus on the future per se, but rather on the quality of the particular age (so nonfading)] life in Christ Jesus our Lord. [“He alone is immortal” 1Tim.6:16.]
