04/26 ~ From New Testament Letters
(In the Order Believed Written)
Paul’s 1st Letter To Timothy
1 - Don’t scold or upbraid an older man, but encourage him as you would a father, younger men as brothers, 2 older women as mothers, and younger women as sisters, with all purity.
3 Honor widows who are truly widows. 4 But if a widow has children or grandchildren, let them show godliness to their own household and make some return to their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God. 5 She who is truly a widow, left all alone, has set her expectation [elpis - expectation, trust, hope] upon God and continues in praise and prayers night and day. 6 But one who is self-indulgent is fading away even while she lives. {An example of certain things that may be as natural inclination, but are overcome in Jesus. But! the morning gospel verses mentioned pseudo prophets that would lead many astray.} 7 Command these things as well, so they (the believers Paul had left Timothy with to complete the building of them into a group faithfully, thus fruitfully in Christ) may be without reproach.
