55 - Now the Passover was approaching, and many were going to Jerusalem to purify theirselves and offer sacrifices beforehand. {Became big business by leaders and moneylenders, today it’s offerings of praise and thanksgiving. I think something to consider in the study of prophecy.} 56 The people were looking for Jesus and saying to one another as they were standing around in the temple, “What do you think? Will he come to the feast at all?” 57 For the leaders, the chief priests and Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where he was, they should report it to them, so they might arrest him.

     12 It was six days before Passover, and Jesus went to Bethany, where Lazarus was, whom he had raised from the dead. 2 So they gave a dinner for him there. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of those reclining with him at table. 3 Mary took a pound of some expensive ointment made from pure nard, and she was anointing the feet of Jesus and she wiping his feet with her hair. And the house became filled with the fragrance of the perfume.

     4 But Judas Iscariot, one of the disciples, the one who was about to betray him {can’t trust thieves} said, 5 “Why was this ointment not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He said this, not because he cared about the poor, but because he was a thief, and had charge of the moneybag {isn’t thAt usually the way}. And he used to help himself to what was put in. 7 Jesus said, “Why bother her, she does it for the day of my burial. 8 The poor you have always with you, but you don’t always have me with you.”
