Hebrews 10:23-29  Mark 2:13-22

            ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 10:23-29

23 - Hold fast and keep ahold of the hope [elpis - expectation] you have affirmed [homología - from homoú - the same, together and légō - speak to a conclusion, lay to rest] {be confident!} without wavering, for he who has made {and notarized} the promise is faithful.

     24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. 26 For if we willfully and deliberately practice transgression, after taking to ourselves the knowledge of the Truth, there’s no new sacrifice for sins, 27 and we’re left with a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. {Earthly. Even the three mentions of lake of fire are at fiery events. Rev.16:14-15-16 versus Mt.25:1-13; MT.13:30.}

      28 Any Hebrew who set aside the law of Moses perishes without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 29 How much worse result [timória - punishment, penalty] do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God! And has profaned the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace!? {😳 Yet “His mercy endures forever”! Jesus said, “All in the tombs/graves will hear his voice and will rise. Some into Life” (into serving called reigning during Jesus’ long second advent, surely a full scope version of his first too brief one) “and some into judgment“ which elsewhere he calls an aionion kolasis / eonian korrection / age of correction - surely(?) the GWT “judgment”/discernment/review of history and closure for all ‘Day’, Jn.5:28-29, Mt.25:46.}

13 - Jesus went out again beside the sea, and all the people were coming to him, and he was teaching them. 14 And as he passed by, he saw Levi [Matthew] the son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him. (Matthew was a Jewish/Hebrew collecting taxes for hated Rome! Such tax collector’s were especially despised.)

     15 And as he reclined at table in Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were reclining with Jesus and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 And the scribes of the Pharisees, when they saw that he was eating with sinners and tax collectors, said to his disciples, “Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?”

     17 And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, “Those who are well don’t need a physician, but those who are not well. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.” (Hamartia - “missing the mark” of? perfection. “There are none righteous, not one” Romans 3:10. Some may think they are righteous, perfect, or well enough. But! God is Life (surely?) and he “is perfect”. So we can see how this imperfection is entropy? This slow gehenna fading away, which “does not quit” but concludes in the exact opposite of Life. So - 1Tim.4:10 - “God is savior of all” having “built in the remedy from the foundation/beginning”.}

     18 Now John's disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. And some came and said to him, “Why do John's disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples don’t?” 19 And Jesus said, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them, they won’t fast. 20 The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away, and then they’ll fast. 21 No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the patch tears away, the new from the old, and a worse tear is made. 22 And no one puts new wine into an old wineskin. If they do, the wine will burst the skin. The wine is lost, and the skin is ruined. But new wine is for new wineskins.” {And new wineskins are needed for the new wine.}

23 - “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders! For you tithe mint, dill and cumin, but neglect the weightier matters of the law, justice, mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to do, without neglecting the others. 24 You blind guides, straining at a gnat and swallowing a camel!

     25 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 You blind Pharisee! Clean the inside of the cup and plate, then the outside will be clean as well.

     27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, pretenders! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people's bones and all defilement [akatharsía - from A - not, and katharós, unmixed]. 28 So also you, you appear outwardly righteous to others, but within you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness.

For you travel across sea and land to make a single convert, and when they become a convert, you make them twice as much a child of hell {condition noT place} as yourselves {are}. For they preach, but don’t practice. 4 They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them upon people's shoulders, but they themselves do not have to carry them. 5 They do all their deeds to be seen by others, making their phylacteries broad and their fringes long. 6 They love the places of honor at feasts, the best seats in the synagogues, 7 and to be greeted in the marketplaces and called rabbi. 8 But you should not be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you’re all brothers and sisters. 9 And call no one Father, for you have one Father, who’s in heaven. 10 Neither be called teachers, for you have one teacher, the Christ. 11 The greatest among you shall be as a servant. 12 Whoever exalts theirself will be humbled, and whoever humbles theirself will be exalted.

Today’s GospeL Verses ~ Mark 12:35-44

35 - As Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, “How can the scribes say that Messiah (Greek Christ) is the son of David? 36 When David, in the Holy Spirit, said, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.’ 37 How can David call him Lord if he’s his son?” And the people were gladly listening to him.

     38 And he said, “Be wary of the scribes. They like to walk around in long robes, be greeted in the marketplaces, 39 and have the best seats in the synagogues, and the places of honor at feasts, 40 yet they devour widows' houses, and as a pretense make long prayers. They will receive the greater condemnation.”

     41 Afterwards, he sat down opposite the treasury and was watching the people put money in the offering box. Many wealthy people put in large sums. 42 But then a poor widow came in who put in two small copper coins. 43 So he called his disciples to him and said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more money than anyone else. 44 For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty has put in all she had to live on.”

                ~ Galatians 6:9-18 ~

9 - So let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we don’t give up. 10 As we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith.

     11 See with what large letters I am writing to you with my own hand. (Paul had developed an eye and sight problem or infection.) 12 It is those who want to show themselves off as making a good show who would force you to be circumcised. And this is only in order that they won’t be criticized for the cross of Christ. (Hebrew believers wanting friendship and approval from the world of their day and place.) 13 For even those who are circumcised don’t themselves keep the law, but they want to have you circumcised that they may boast in you. (Believers can be misled by wanting followers of theirselves.) 14 But I don’t want to boast in anything, except in the cross of our Lord Jesus, the Christ (christos - anointed one). By him I have been crucified to the world, and the world has been crucified to me. 15 For circumcision doesn’t matter, whether you are circumcised or not circumcised. What matters is being a new creation.16 And for all who walk by this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel (household) of God. 17 And from now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of serving Jesus.

     18 The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you, brothers and sisters. Amen.

psalms - jan-1-19 / feb-2o's / mar-3o's / apr-4o's / may-5o's / jun-6o's / jul-7o's / aug-8o's / sep-9o's / oct-100-110 / nov-11o's / dec-12o-15o .. the psalms are very prophetical, especially in the sense of total overview.

⛲️ Is.11:7 - The lion will eat straw like the ox!

Humanity and creation will be sealed with God’s Spirit/Presence. This is logic, for is anything else possible? For surely(?) God is Life.

They Missed The Boat

Luke 7:27-30

27 This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before your face, which shall prepare the way before you.
28 For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.”
29 And when all the people heard Him,even the tax collectors justified God, having been baptized with the baptism of John.
30 But the Pharisees and scribes rejected the will of God for themselves, not having been baptized by him.

So there they were, the religious leaders who had surely read the prophecies of - "a voice crying from the wilderness! Prepare the way of the LORD!" - when the wild figure of John the Baptist came in from the wilderness preaching a message of repentance by baptism, followed by the humble person of Jesus healing the lame and the blind - also prophesied (by Isaiah the prophet).

Romans 9:18

18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.
Or as another version put it:
18 Everything depends on what God decides to do, and he can either have pity on people or make them stubborn.
