Mark 14:43-53 and Luke 22:47-54

Mk.14:43 — Just then, Judas, came along. With him was a crowd with torches, armed with swords and clubs. They were sent from the leaders, the chief priests, teachers of the law, and elders. 44 Judas, the betrayer had arranged a signal with them, “The one I kiss is the one you want.” 45 And going at once to Jesus, Judas said, “Rabbi!” and kissed him. 46 So the men seized Jesus and arrested him. 47 Then one of the disciples standing near drew his sword and striking the servant of the high priest, cut off his ear! 48 “Am I leading a revolt?” asked Jesus. “That you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you didn’t arrest me. But the Scriptures will be fulfilled.” 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.

51 A young man, having come out (following the torched procession?) had thrown about him a linen garment, and they seized him, 52 but he fled naked, leaving his garment behind. 53 And they took Jesus to the high priest, where the leaders all came together.

     — Luke 22:47-54 — 47 While Jesus was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man, Judas, one of the twelve, was leading them, and he approached Jesus as if to kiss him, 48 but Jesus asked him, “Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?” 49 When Jesus’ followers saw what was going to happen, they said, “Lord, should we fight with our swords?” 50 And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear. 51 But Jesus answered, “We want none of this.” And he touched the man’s ear and healed it. 52 Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, “Am I leading a rebellion, so you have come with swords and clubs? 53 Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you didn’t lay a hand on me. But this is your hour—when darkness is reigning.” 54 Then they seized him, and led him away, taking him to the house of the high priest. And Peter followed at a distance.

17 But now in the following, I have no praise for you. For your meetings do more harm than good! 18 I am told you argue with one another when you worship, and I’m inclined to believe that most of what I’ve heard is true! 19 You are competing for recognition as to who is the better and more approved! 20 So when you come together, it is not the Lord’s supper you are eating. 21 For everyone is looking to their own, so that some go without, while someone else is drunk! 22 Do you not have your own homes in which to eat and drink?
