GospeL Verses ~ Matthew 24:15-22
15 - “When therefor you see the abomination [bdelugma - something detestable, abominable, accursed, from bdelýssō - derived from bdēō - to reek with stench (stink to high heaven!) an abomination] of desolation [erémósis - a making desolate, desolation, devastation, from erēmóō - lay waste, make destitute, barren, that results from being cut off (isolated)] spoken of by the prophet Daniel [Dn.12:11] standing [histémi - made to stand, placed, set up, established, appointed] in the holy [hagios - the core meaning is different, sacred, holy, set apart for or by God] place, the one reading let them understand [noiéō - understand, perceive, think, consider, conceive, apprehend, realize, properly, to apply mental effort needed to reach "bottom-line" conclusions, value-judgment ..from each of us being created in the divine image – hence, possessing the inherent capacity by the Lord to exercise reasoning] 16 then let those in Judea [Ioudaia - Judaea, before exile when split, south Israel, after exile all Israel, “beyond Jordan R, from Ioudaios - Jewish, a Jew, Judea, origin Yehudah] flee to the mountains. 17 Let the one who is on the housetop not go down to take what is in his house, 18 and let the one who is in the field not turn back to take his coat. 19 And alas for women who are with child (pregnant) and for those who are nursing infants! 20 Pray your flight may not be in winter nor upon a Sabbath. (Warnings for 70 CE, aNd for the final culmination of history, as the next verses show.) 21 For then there will be great trouble (tribulation) such as has not been from the beginning of the world until now, no and - never will be again.
22 And, if those days are not cut short, no human being would be saved [sozo - saved, preserved (left!)]. But for the sake of the elect [eklektos - those selected, called out by God for special service to Him (Hebrews, Messiah, Christians)] those days will be shortened. (Rev.2:10.. last “ten days” of Dn.12:11 escalating to the most critical? But in Judea, most critical from the beginning? ..Dn.12:12. “Those days” which will include the fiery gehennas, culminating in armageddon - For “he returns in fire and with his angels” 2Thes.1:7,8.)

8 - But (Paul continues) if anyone does not provide for his relatives, especially for members of their household, they are denying the faith and are worse than an unbeliever.
9 Let a widow be enrolled (in support) if she is sixty years of age, having been the wife of one husband, 10 and having a reputation for good works, has brought up children, and shown hospitality, cared for the afflicted, and devoted herself to every good work. 11 But not younger widows, for when their passions draw them away from Christ, they desire to marry 12 and so incur judgment for having abandoned their first faith. 13 Besides that, they learn to be idlers, going about from house to house, and not only idlers, but also gossips and busybodies. 14 So I would have younger widows marry, bear children, manage households, giving the adversary no occasion for slander. 15 For some have already strayed after Satan. (Does Paul ever reproach men for chasing skirts, having mistresses, being overbearing?🙂js)
