GospeL Verses ~ John 4:3-26

3 - Jesus left Judea and departed again for Galilee. 4 He had to pass through Samaria. 5 And came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the field that Jacob had given to his son Joseph. 6 Jacob's well was there, and Jesus, wearied from his journey, was sitting at the well. It was about the sixth hour, 7 when a woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink.” 8 For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. 9 The Samaritan woman said, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. (According to Old Testament laws of remaining separate thus intact as to preparation for Messiah/savior of the world”.) 10 Jesus replied, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” 11 The woman said to him, “Sir, you have nothing to draw water with, and the well is deep. Where would you get the living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob? He gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock.” 13 Jesus said, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again. 14 But whoever drinks of the water that I give will not be thirsty again. The water that I give becomes a spring of water within welling up to eternal life.” 15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not be thirsty or have to come here to draw water.” 16 Jesus said, “Go, call your husband, and then come back.” 17 The woman answered, “I have no husband.” Jesus said, “You are right in saying, ‘I have no husband’ 18 for you have had five husbands, and the one you now have is not your husband. You have spoken the truth.” 19 The woman said, “Sir, I perceive that you are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you (Jews/Hebrews) say that in Jerusalem is the place where people should worship.” 21 Jesus said, “Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, will you worship the Father. 22 You worship what you don’t know. We worship what we know, for salvation is of the Jews. 23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such to worship him. 24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” 25 The woman said to him, “I know that Messiah is coming, he who is called Christ. When he comes, he will tell us all things.” 26 Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am he.”

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                    ~ 2 Corinthians 13:1-9

1 - This is the third time I am coming to you. Every accusation must rest on the evidence of two or three witnesses. 2 I warned those who were sinning before and all the others, and I warn them now while absent, as I did when there on my second visit, that if I come again I will not spare, 3 since you seek proof that Christ is speaking in me. He is not weak toward you, but is powerful among you. 4 He was crucified in weakness, but lives by the power of God. And we also are weak in him, but we will live with him by the power of God. 5 Examine yourselves, to see whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Or do you not realize this - that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless, indeed, you fail to meet the test! 6 I hope you will find out that we have not failed the test. 7 But we pray to God that you may not do wrong, not that we may appear to have met the test, but that you may do what is right, though we may seem to have failed. 8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth. 9 For we are glad when we are weak and you are strong. For it is your restoration that we pray for.
