GospeL Verses ~ John 12:37-50

37 - Though they had seen him do so many signs, they still didn’t believe in him, 38 so the word spoken by prophet Isaiah is fulfilled, “Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” 39 Because of this they couldn’t believe, for again Isaiah said, 40 “He has blinded their eyes and made their hearts hard, lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and turn, and I would heal them.” 41 Isaiah said these things because he saw his glory (understood the full glory?) and spoke of him. 42 Nevertheless, many, even some of the authorities believed, but for fear of the Pharisees they didn’t say so, lest they be put out of the synagogue. 43 For they esteemed the glory that comes from man more than the glory that comes from God.

44 And Jesus (in Jerusalem, that Passover/Unleavened Bread week) cried out and said, “Whoever believes in me, believes not in me but in he who sent me! 45 And whoever sees me sees he who sent me. 46 I have come into the world as light, and whoever believes in me will not remain in darkness. 47 If anyone hears my words and does not keep them, I don’t judge them, for I didn’t come to judge the world but to save the world. 48 The one who rejects me and doesn’t receive my words has a judge, the word (truth) that I have spoken will judge them on the last day. 49 For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself told me what to answer and what to say. 50 And I know that all he says and commands is life unfading. What I say, therefore, is what the Father has told me to say.”

                ~ 1Peter 1:8-12 ~

8 - Though you have not seen him, you love him. And though you do not now see him, you believe in him, and you rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and full of glory! 9 And so you receive the result of your faith, the salvation [sótéria - welfare, prosperity, deliverance, preservation, salvation, safety] of your soul [psuché, psyxḗ - from psyxō, "to breathe, blow" which is the root of the English words "psyche," "psychology" – soul, psyche, a person's distinct identity, unique personhood, individual personality, breath, the soul]. 10 Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours, searched it out diligently, 11 searching for what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating, when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the following glories. 12 It was revealed to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in the things that have now been proclaimed to you through those who preached the good news to you by the Holy Spirit(/Presence of God) sent from heaven. These are things angels long to look into.
