GospeL Verses ~ John 14:1-11

Jesus, alone with his eleven disciples on the evening before his execution, and before his arrest, Judas has left, the other disciples thinking perhaps he has gone to buy what they need for the Passover meal, as he was the one who carried the money bag.

1 - “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God, believe now also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions [monḗ - from ménō - to remain, abide – an abiding dwelling-place i.e. not transitory; monḗ - used twice in the NT both times by Christ, an individual dwelling place]. If this wasn’t so, would I tell you that I go to prepare a place for you? (I go to be crucified, so that where I am you may be.) 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, that where I am you may be. 4 And you know the way to where I’m going.” 5 Thomas said, “Lord, we don’t know where you’re going. How can we know the way?”6 Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you know me, you know my Father also. So from now on you do know him, and see him.” [See - horaó - to see, perceive, understand.] 8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father, and it will be enough for us.” 9 Jesus said, “Have I been with you so long, and you have not known me, Philip? Whoever has seen me has seen the Father. So why say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not know that I am in the Father? And the Father is in me? The words I say to you I don’t say by my own authority, but the Father who dwells in me does his works. 11 Believe me, that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or believe because of the works [ergon - work, task, employment; a deed, action; that which is wrought or made, a work, act/deed that carries out a purpose].

From New Testament Letters

     (In the Order Believed Written)

                ~ 1 Peter 3:1-6 ~

1 - Likewise, wives, adapt to your own husbands, so that even if he doesn’t obey the word, he may be won over without a word 2 when he observes your peaceful and respectful spirit. 3 Let your adorning not be the external of the hair, and jewelry and clothing, as much as the 4 unfading beauty of a gentle and peaceful spirit, the hidden person of the heart, which in God's sight is very precious. 5 For this is how the holy women who hoped in God would adorn theirselves, by adapting to their own husbands, 6 as Sarah ranked herself as submissive to Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her children, if you do good and are not easily fearful and exciteable.
