1 - “To the angel of [en - in, on, at, by, with] the church in Ephesus write - ‘The words of he who holds the seven stars in his right hand, and who walks among the seven golden lampstands. 2 I know your hard work, your patient endurance, and how you can’t bear with those who do evil, but have tested those who call theirselves apostles but they’re not. And you found them to be false. 3 You have had perseverance and have endured for my name's sake, and you haven’t grown weary. 4 But I have against you this, that you have abandoned your first love. 5 Call to mind from where you have fallen and turn and the first results do. If not, however, I will come and remove your lampstand out of its place, unless you repent/change course. 6 Yet this you have, you hate [miseo - hate, detest, love less] the works of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. (Nicolaitans mAy have began as a following of a christian in error, and their works/things they did and believed were scandalous and corrupt.)

     7 Whoever has an ear 🌽 let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (Plural.) To the one who is victorious [nikaó - to conquer, prevail, from níkē - victory, properly, conquer, overcome, to carry off the victory, come off victorious] I will grant to eat of the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.’”

     ..How do we come off victorious? I think there’s one rule, “love God”. Draw near. Pursue Him. Did Jesus give us a ‘formula for success’ on the eve of his crucifixion? A spirituaL formula. The peaceful, joyful wine of God’s Spirit/Presence. And our daily bread, from the mouth of God, the New Testament (way) of our Lord.

[Paul is presenting his case and defense against his accusers before the governor Felix, in Caesarea. The hearing had been moved and Paul brought from Jerusalem in order to escape a plot that had been made to kill him.] — 13,14 - “Neither can they prove to you what they now bring up against me (Paul). But this is what I believe (and so teach) - according to the way they call a sect - I worship the God of our fathers, believing everything written in the Law and by the Prophets. 15 And holding this hope in God, my accusers also believe, that there will be resurrection. Of both the just and of the unjust. 16 Therefor I always take pains to have a clear conscience toward God and toward man. 17 After several years of being away, I came to bring gifts for the poor of my nation and to offer sacrifices. 18 And so they found me ritually purified in the temple. And there was no crowd or tumult. But some Jews from Asia— 19 they ought to be here before you to make an accusation, should they have one against me - 20 or let these men here, say what wrongdoing did they find when I stood before their council.  21 Except for this one thing that I cried out while standing among them - ‘It is with respect to the resurrection of the dead that I am on trial before you this day!’” [Which (deliberately) divided the council in argument, the Pharisees declaring him innocent, the Sadducees disagreeing. The argument became so fierce the Roman commander broke it up “lest they tear Paul to pieces”.]

     22 But Felix, having a somewhat accurate knowledge of “the way” put them off, saying, “When Lysias the tribune comes down, I’ll decide your case.” 23 Then he gave orders to the centurion that Paul be kept in custody but with some freedom, and that none of his friends should be prevented from supplying what he needed.

     24 Then after some days Felix came back with his wife Drusilla, who was Jewish. He sent for Paul and listened to him speak about the faith in Jesus as the Christ (Messiah, Savior, literally “anointed one”]. 25 And as he reasoned about justice, righteousness, self-control and about the coming judgment, Felix was alarmed and said, “Go away for the present. When I get an opportunity I will summon you again.” 26 At the same time he hoped a bribe would be given to him from Paul. So he sent for him often and conversed with him. 27 When two years had elapsed, Felix was succeeded by Porcius Festus. And wanting to do the Jewish (Hebrew) leaders a favor, Felix left Paul in prison.

Jesus said - “All those in the tombs/graves will hear God’s voice and will come forth” (from the graves/tombs) “some into the resurrection of life (into THE millennium). And some into the resurrection of judgment” (Jn.5:28-29) which elsewhere He calls agelasting correction [“kolasin aionion” oR “eonian correction” Mt.25:46.

2 - (These verses are not in some earliest manuscripts. Perhaps(?) it had been handed down, and added.) Early in the morning Jesus came again to the temple, the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them. 3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought to Jesus a woman who had been caught in adultery, and 4 they said, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such. What do you say?” 6 This they said to test him, looking for a charge to bring against him. But Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger in the dust. 7 And as they kept asking him, he stood up and said, “Let he who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more he bent down and wrote in the dust. 9 And then they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones first, and Jesus was left alone with the woman. 10 Jesus stood upright and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” 11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you, go and sin no more.” (‘Legend’ has it that she then followed Jesus, was Mary Magdalene or one of many women who did so.)

Jesus is in Jerusalem for Tabernacles. 37 - On the last day of the feast, the great day (the 8th day, Lev.23:36) Jesus stood up and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let them come to me and drink! 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of their heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive, for as yet the Spirit/Presence (of God) had not been given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified. (By rising from death.) 40 When they heard these words, some of the people said, “This truly is the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ.” But some said, “Does Christ come from Galilee? 42 Doesn’t the Scripture say the Christ comes from the line of David, and from Bethlehem, the village where David was?” 43 So there was a division among the people concerning him. 44 And some wanted to arrest him, but no one laid hands on him.

     45 The officers then went to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him?!” 46 The officers answered, “No one has ever spoke like this man!” 47 The Pharisees said, “Have you also been deceived? 48 Have any of the leaders or Pharisees believed in him? 49 The people don’t know the law and are accursed!” 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus before (in the cover of night) and who was one of them, (a Pharisee) said to them, 51 “Does our law judge someone without first giving him a hearing and learning what he does?” 52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee too? Search and see that no prophet arises from Galilee.” 53 Then each went to their own house, 8:1 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

So instead - The “8th day” in scripture - 6000yrs things run their course - creation is not merely an ant farm, so this all important contrast will run its course - then is “the” millennium, the 7th one thousand years (7th ‘day’).

     Circumcision was to be done on the 8th day.

  Exodus 22:30 - “same with your oxen and sheep, seven days it shall be with its mother, on the 8th day you shall give it to me.”

  Leviticus 9:1 - “on the 8th day the LORD received Aaron’s offering” - Aaron is the first in the priesthood line.

  Lev.14:23 - “on the 8th day he shall bring them for cleansing to the priests”

  Nehemiah 8:18 - “They kept the Tabernacles feast seven days, and on the 8th day there was a solemn assembly, according to the rule.” (Of Lev.23:36.)

Some said, “He is a good man,” but others said, “No, he is leading the people astray.” 13 Yet for fear of the leaders no one openly spoke about him.

     14 At about the middle of the feast, Jesus went into the temple and was teaching. 15 The leaders wondered, saying, “How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?” 16 So Jesus answered them, “My teaching is not mine, but it’s his who sent me. 17 If anyone's will is to do God's will, they’ll know whether the teaching is from God - or whether I am speaking on my own authority. 18 The one who speaks on his own authority seeks his own renown. Daniel 9 Study

Paraphrased And Condensed  With Suggested Interpretation          

9:1 - [Babylon was overthrown in the night by Media, and] Darius the Mede was appointed successor to Belshazzar (Nebuchadnezzar’s son). [Darius the Mede, was the predecessor of Cyrus, who sent “all” Israel in “all” his kingdom home.] (And Assyria, where the “ten tribes” had been led captive, by then, was again a part of Babylonia, now Persia.) — 2 In the first year of Darius the Medes reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books of Jeremiah the prophet, the number of years that the desolation of Jerusalem would last, namely, seventy years. (Until Cyrus would make proclamation “Israel go on home”.) 4 I prayed to the Lord my God and made confession, saying ..“O LORD, the great and awesome God, who keeps covenant (treaty, agreement, friendship) and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his (life giving, society preserving) commandments (and instructions)..6 We haven’t listened to your servants the prophets 10 ..you have banished.. because of the treachery committed against you.” [They even burned children and babies alive to the god Molech, while beating a drum/tophet to cover the screams.] (Why God wanted a separated nation to birth the “savior oF the-world, and disciplined them to strain out such horrors and also waywardness which curses.) 11..”And so the oath [alah -an oath] and the curse [shebuah - an oath, curse] (the effect, of cause and effect) that are written in the Law of Moses the servant of God, has been poured out upon us, because we have sinned against him. (Broken the treaty.) …13 ..All this calamity has come upon us, yet we have not looked for ..the LORD our God, seeking insight by your truth and turning from wickedness. (As evil ever begets evil.) 14 Therefore Yhvh (the LORD) has kept ready the calamity” [ra' - adversity] (his wrath, imo, is that he has created a cause and effect universe. Abandon God and the shield of his Spirit/Presence is naturally given up and lost, and the other fierce ‘gods’/demons who hate the light that was once there, are bound to viciously attack). ..16 “O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger (of allowing naturally occurring consequences) and wrath turn away now from your city Jerusalem, your holy hill ..because of our doings.. your people have become a byword among all who are around us. 17..O LORD, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate.”

     21 While I was speaking in prayer, the man Gabriel, whom I had seen earlier (in chapter 8 came in swift flight to me at the hour of the evening sacrifice. (Without a temple, the sacrifices were sacrifices of prayers, and this was carried through in the later synagogues. The whole idea of ancient sacrifices has to do with guilt and human psychology. Wrath and appeasement yes, but for an angry god is code for the sensitive and delicate human psyche. Surely? Have you ever beat yourself up over something? Perhaps “with many stripes”?) 22 Gabriel said to me, “Oh Daniel, I have now come to give to you understanding and insight. 23 When you began to pray for help and mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved.” (Talk about “swift flight”!) “Therefore consider the word and understand this.”

     24 “All together, seventy weeks are decreed concerning your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression [pesha - rebellion] to put an end to sin, to atone for iniquity/guilt [avon - iniquity, guilt], to bring in enduring righteousness [tsedeq - rightness, righteousness] to seal [chatham - to seal, affix a seal, seal up] vision and prophet, and to anoint a most holy place. [Most holy place is where one meets with God. Metaphor of the heart? In the temple, it was the innermost room where the high priest entered once a year, but now “we can boldly enter the most holy place” (Heb.10:19) and we can “draw near to God with a sincere heart, with the full assurance that faith brings!” (Heb.10:22). And to prove a point, I’ll include the rest of the verse - “having our hearts sprinkled and cleansed from a guilty conscience”. Heb.9:9 says the old system of sacrifice “was unable to cleanse the conscience”. …To anoint a most holy place.. the meeting place. Because God, like he was with Abraham, is a “friend” and a “Father” who “is love”.]

     25 “Know therefore and understand” [the scripture is written to each one of us] “that from the going out of the word to restore and build Jerusalem  (later under Artaxerxes) until Messiah the prince, there will be seven weeks. Then there will be sixty-two weeks of building Jerusalem.. with plaza and wall, but during troubling times. 26 And after the sixty-two weeks, the anointed one will be cut off [crucified/executed] and shall (seem to) have nothing. And the city and the sanctuary will be destroyed by the nation of the prince that is coming (one of the Caesars, Titus). Its end coming like a flood, and until the end of war (Ps.2) (there) will be desolations. 27 And (a) strong/mighty covenant [berith - treaty, league, covenant] great/many (for) one week [of years]. (At) half week, (an) end to sacrifice and offering, (and) on the wing (height) of abominations (will come?) appalling desolation, even up to the consummation [kalah - completion, full end] that is cut/determined/decreed/destined(?) is poured out upon the appalling/the desolate. (That would be the “quick” (concurrent?) bowls of Revelation, the final results of this all important contrast, and of the doings of mankind.) (Cross Ref. “an end to sacrifice and offering” Dan.12:11-12, an intriguing math problem. Lk.19:41,44?)

Show yourself to the world!” 5 For even his brothers did not believe in him. 6 Jesus answered them, “My time hasn’t yet come, but your time is always here. 7 The world doesn’t hate you, but it hates me because I reveal that its works are evil. 8 You go up to the feast. He is the beginning, and firstborn from out of the dead, that in all he might be preeminent. 19 For in him God - in all his fullness - was pleased to dwell, 20 and (was pleased to) by him reconcile [apokatallassó - to reconcile completely, from apo - from, away from, and katallassó - change, exchange - from katá - down to an exact point, intensifying allássō - to change – properly, decisively change — (to an exact point!)] all to himself. And the same again, going out at about the sixth hour and then again at the ninth hour. 6 And then even at the eleventh hour he went out and found others and said to them, ‘Why do you stand here idle all day?’ 7 They answered, ‘Because no one’s hired us.’ And he said, ‘Go into my vineyard and work.’

     8 When evening came, the owner of the vineyard said to his foreman, ‘Call in the laborers and pay them their wages, beginning with the last to the first.’ 9 And when those hired at the eleventh hour came, each of them received a denarius. 10 And when those who were hired first came, they thought they would receive more, but each of them also received a denarius. 11 And on receiving it they grumbled at the master of the house, 12 saying, ‘These last worked only one hour! And you’ve paid them the same as us, who bore the burden and the heat of the day!’ 13 But the owner said, ‘Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Didn’t you agree with me for a denarius? 14 Take now your pay and go. If I choose to give to this last as I do to you, 15 am I not allowed to do what I choose with my own wealth?      16 Just then a man came and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to have the life unfading?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There’s only one who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” the man asked. Daniel 8 Study

In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar of Babylon [Nebuchadnezzar’s son] a vision appeared to me, Daniel, after the one in the first year (ch.7).

     2 In the vision I was in Susa of Elam (later Persia) at the Ulai canal. 3 And behold, a ram standing on the bank of the canal. It had two horns, and both horns were high, but one was higher than the other, and the higher one came up last. [Media-Persia, and Persia surpassed Media.] 4 And the ram charged westward and northward and southward. No beast could stand before him, and there was no one who could rescue from his power. He did as he pleased and became great. (Would conquer Babylon.)

      5 And as I was considering, a male goat came from the west (Greece, and some think perhaps another in ‘last’ days) across the face of the whole earth, without touching the ground. And the goat had a large horn between his eyes. ..And he came to the ram 7 and enraged, rammed the ram, breaking his two horns, and trampling him (like the bronze in chapter 7 tramples ..Greek philosophy tearing up what the iron/Rome didn’t/doesn’t subdue, meaning the  iron and bronze from Daniel chapter two). And there was no one who could rescue the ram, and 8 the goat became exceedingly great, but when he was strong, the great horn was broken. And instead came up four horns toward the four winds. 9 Out of one came a little horn, which grew great [gadal - arrogant, great, bold] toward the south, and east, and (arrogant, bold) toward the glorious land/God’s land/the promised. [This is the story of the MacCabees and the cruel despot Antiochus Epiphanes. Though history repeats as usually does prophecy, with a more or less local or ‘soon’ fulfillment and at least one more at the culmination of history. Sort of ‘micro’ and macro; partial pond ripple to full pond ripple. And besides that, is the little horn of chapter 7, the one with eyes, from a Roman/Graeco - iron/bronze foundation entity/institution.) 10 The horn grew great, even to the host of heaven. And some of the host and some of the stars it threw down to the ground and trampled on them. 11 It became great, even as great as the Prince of the host. And the regular burnt offering was taken away, and the place of the sanctuary overthrown 12 ..a host will be given over to it and the offerings, because of transgression (consequence, spiritual shield is down) ..it will throw truth to the ground ..and will act (out) and prosper. 13 Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one, “For how long is the vision concerning the regular burnt offering, the transgression that makes desolate, and the giving over of the sanctuary and host to be trampled?” 14 …“For 2,300 evenings and mornings. Then the sanctuary shall be restored.” [Fulfilled in the days of the Maccabees, but may have another fulfillment, 2,300 days is 6.3 years. If 2300 years is meant, it may correspond to the translating of the Hebrew scriptures into Greek, which brought with it some myths-? And it is afterall the bronze which scatters and tramples - in chapter 7, by the bronze feet of the beast more terrible with ten horns and iron teeth, Roman columns(?)]

     15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I sought to understand it. And behold, there stood before me one having the appearance of a man. 16 And I heard a voice from between the banks of the Ulai, and it called out, “Gabriel, make this man understand the vision.” 17 So he came near where I stood. And I was frightened and fell on my face. But he said, “Understand, oh son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end.” 18 And I fell into a deep sleep but he touched me and made me to stand (resurrection prophesied/portrayed?)19 and said, “I will make known to you what shall be at the latter end of the indignation. [Acharith - the after-part, end (of the) zaam - indignation, insolence.] For it is for the appointed time of the end.

     20 As for the ram that you saw with the two horns, these are the kings of Media and Persia. 21 And the goat is the king of Greece. And the great horn between his eyes is the first king (Alexander; and possibly? Last days, the west charges enraged against the east, but its POWER wanes by breaking (being divided) into four. Two powers, but each with their extremes?) 22 As for the horn that was broken, in place of which four others arose, four kingdoms/powers shall arise from his (Alexander’s) nation, but not with his power. 23 And at the latter end of their kingdom, when transgressors have reached their limit, a king of bold face, one who understands riddles (espionage, stealth?) shall arise. 24 His power will be great—but not by his own power. And he shall cause fearful destruction (also toward last days? Rev.13:13? Which event pinpoints an office.) And he (last days? originally from that rev.13:13 office) shall succeed in what he does, and will ruin mighty men and the people who are the saints. 25 By his stealth treachery will prosper under his hand, and in his own mind he will become great. Without warning he will destroy many. And he shall even rise up against the Prince of princes, but without hand he shall be broken. 26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings that has been told is true, but seal up the vision, for it refers to many days in the future.”

     27 And I, Daniel, was overcome and lay sick for some days. Then I rose and went about the king's business. (As a captive in Babylon, Daniel was recognized as very able and was drafted into the king’s court of advisors, astrologers, etc.) But I was appalled by the vision and didn’t understand it.

9 - I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and in the kingdom and in the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the prison island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. 10 I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet sounding 11 saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches in Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia and Laodicea.”

     12 Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking and when I turned I saw seven gold lampstands, 13 and in the midst of them one like a Son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a gold sash around his chest. 14 The hairs of his head were white, like pure white wool, and snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, 15 his feet like glowing bronze, refined in a fiery furnace. And his voice was like the roar of mighty waters. 16 In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sWord (“thy word is Truth” Jn.17:17) and his face was like the sun in its shining. 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, 18 the living one. I died, but behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of the hades/grave. Which I find completely strange!) 19 Write therefore the things seen, what is now, and what will take place after now. 20 As for the mystery of the seven stars I hold in my right hand, and the seven gold lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.

1 - It was about then the disciples came to Jesus, asking, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he said, 3 “Truly, I tell you, unless you become like this child, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 But whoever humbles their self like a child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoever receives one such child in my name receives me. 6 But whoever causes one of these little ones to stumble, it would be better for them to have a heavy millstone hung around their neck and be thrown into the depth of the sea! 7 Woe to the world for the temptations to do wrong. For it’s bound to occur that temptations come, but woe to those from whom it comes. 8 If your hand or foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it from you!. It’s better for you to be in life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the gehenna fire. (Either the fiery inner torment, or one of the many fiery consequences that befall nations and peoples throughout history or the collective at the culmination. Or a reference to the city dump outside Jerusalem in Gehenna Valley where even the bodies of criminals were cast. So the fires were kept burning. Which the worm that doesn’t quit also fits the nature of corruption/imperfection.) 9 If your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it away! It’s better for you to enter [eiserchomai - to go in (to), enter, come into] life with one eye than to enter with two eyes the gehenna of fire.”

     10 “See to it that you do not despise [kataphroneó - to think little of, consider lightly, low prioritize] any one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their spirit always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. (Little ones believe, even if not yet in words. They are taught un-faith.) 11 - (This is a disputed verse, but it is the meaning of the next verse.) For the Son of Man has come to save the lost. (Yes even the most depraved who would harm or intentionally mislead a child. See why what must be APPEASED, is ones own psyche? It can be quite brutal and wrathful. What God sends is turning, renewal, recovery, rebirth, healing until the ‘end’ - greek end-aim, Eph.1:10 - [to which the translators added “things” to “all” greek “pas”] - “At the fullness of time to gather all into Christ Jesus, the all in heaven (angels, no souls in heaven) and the all upon earth.” See Rev.21:5, but

cd all has been changed to all things. And Mt.13:33, key word 3, with 1Cor.15:22-24,28 - can you spot the THREE harvests/loaves? Barley, wheat, grape. Here’s another clue, aka, riddle - Mt.13:30 occurs when? Answer - Rev.16:13-16, yes?)

1 - And when he (Paul) had been brought to the court, the lawyer for the national leaders, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying to the court, “Because of you, most excellent Felix, we enjoy much peace, and by your foresight, reforms for this nation are being made, 3 in every way we accept this with all gratitude. 4 But, to detain you no further, I beg you in your kindness to hear us briefly. 5 For we have found this man to be a pestilent nuisance who stirs up riots among the Jews everywhere he goes. He is a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. 6 He even tried to profane the temple, but we seized him and according to our law we wish to judge him. 8 By examining him, you find out from him everything of which we accuse him.” 9 The leaders stood and joined in the charge, affirming that all these things were so. 10 When the governor nodded to him to speak, Paul made his reply, “I know the many years you have been a judge over this nation, so I happily make my defense. 11 You can easily verify that it is not more than twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship, 12 and they did not find me disputing with anyone or stirring up a crowd, not in the temple nor in the synagogues or in the city. 13 Nor can they prove to you what they now bring up against me! 14 But this I testify to you, that according to the Way, which they label a sect, I worship the God of our fathers. 14 - When they came down off the mountain there was a crowd waiting, and a man came up to him and kneeling 15 said, “Lord, have mercy on my son! For he has seizures and he suffers terribly. Often falling into the fire, or into the water. 16 And I brought him to your disciples, but they couldn’t heal him.” 17 Jesus said, “Oh you lacking in faith and twisted, how long will I be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me.” 18 And he rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. 19 The disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why couldn’t we cast it out?” 20 And he said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I tell you, if you have faith like a mere grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

     22 Later in Galilee, Jesus said, “The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, 23 and they will kill him, and he will be raised up on the third day.” And they were greatly troubled. 24 When they had arrived at Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came up to Peter and said, “Does your teacher not pay the tax?” 25 Peter said, “Yes.” And when he came into the house, before Peter said anything Jesus said, “What do you think, Simon? From whom do kings of earth take toll and tax? From their sons or from others?” 26 And when Peter said, “From others.” Jesus said, “Then the sons are free. 27 However, not to give offense to them, go to the sea (of Galilee) and cast a hook in and take the first fish that comes up, and when you open its mouth you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for me and for yourself.” (I wondered why this? Asked the Lord and what came to mind is some are called to go out and proclaim the message and some to go home and live it in their lives proclaiming it that way, and in words when and how the Spirit/Presence gives place for it.)

                  ~ Romans 15:22-33 ~

(I’m a fan of numbers. Something special in today’s study? Though there always is!) 22 - This is the reason why I (Paul) have so often been hindered from coming to visit. 23 But now, since I no longer have any room for work in these regions, and since I have longed for many years to come, 24 I hope to see you in passing as I go to Spain. And to be sent on my journey there by you, once I have enjoyed your company for a while. 25 At present, however, I am going to Jerusalem bringing a collection of aid to the believers. 26 For Macedonia and Achaia have been pleased to make a contribution for the poor among the saints (believers) at Jerusalem. 27 For they were pleased to do it, and indeed it all balances out. If the Gentile believers have come to share in their spiritual blessings, why not they be of service if they can to the poor of them in material blessing? 28 When I’ve completed this and have delivered to them what’s been collected, I plan to leave for Spain by way of you. [We don’t know for sure if Paul made it to Spain, he was arrested in Jerusalem because of his message. 🤔Thought police? This is where our weekly Acts reading and study is. Rather than be in the hands of his adversaries in Jerusalem, being a Roman citizen (even by birth) he “appeals to Caesar” and “in chains” (not literally, but under arrest) they bring him by ship to Rome.] 29 I know that when I come to you I will come in the fullness of the blessing of Christ! 30 I appeal to you, brothers, by our Lord Jesus and by the love of the Spirit/Presence of God, to strive together with me in prayers on my behalf, 31 that I may be delivered from the unbelievers (leaders) in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints, 32 and that by God's will I may come to you with joy and be refreshed in your company. 33 And may the God of peace be with you all, amen. 1 - Six days laterJesus took with him Peter and the brothers James and John, and went up a high mountain, 2 where he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became radiant and white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. (A vision.) 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here! If you wish, I will make three tents, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” (It was Tabernacle week?) 5 He was still speaking when a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased, hear and listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were afraid, 7 but Jesus came, touched them, and said, “Rise, and have no fear.” 8 And when they looked up, they saw no one but Jesus. 9 As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus instructed them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from death.” 10 And the disciples asked him, “Then why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?” 11 He answered, “Elijah does come, and he will restore all things. 12 But I tell you that (the spirit and power like) Elijah did come, and they didn’t recognize him, but did to him whatever they pleased. 21 - From this time Jesus began to tell his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, rulers, leaders, chief priests and scribes, and to be killed, and on the third day be raised back up. 22 Peter took him aside and said, “Not so Lord! Far be it from you! This shall never happen!” 23 But Jesus said, “Get behind me, adversary! You are acting as a hindrance to me. You are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.”

     24 Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone will come after me, let them deny their self, take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever would (compromise, relent, in order to) save their life will lose it (the real life and self, the higher calling) but whoever loses his (worldly, earthly, lower) life for my sake will find it. 26 For what will it profit a person if they gain all the world and forfeit their soul (self, real being)? Or what shall a person give in exchange for their soul? [Psyxḗ - from psyxō - to breathe, blow, which is the root of the English words psyche, psychology – soul (psyche); a person's distinct identity (unique personhood), i.e. individual personality] (self). 27 For (what matters is) the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father! And then shall he repay each person according to what they have done.  (And been.) 28 Truly, I say to you, there are some here standing, who won’t die until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.” (Logically, upon the first ‘church’ age Pentecost, and the gospel’s onward march conquering and to conquer openly victorious - until the “falling away” has occurred, all mankind’s empires on only sand. Then when all is done and completed, all the world and existence conquered.)

8 - For I tell you, Christ became a servant to the circumcised to show God's truthfulness — in order to confirm the promises given to the patriarchs — 9 and — in order that the Gentiles/nations might glorify God for his mercy. As it is written, “Therefore I will praise you among the nations! I will sing to your name!” (Name - reputation.) 10 And again it is said, “Rejoice, O nations, with his people.” 11 And again, “Praise the Lord, all you nations! Let all the peoples praise him.” (All will praise him, according to how when God says “let” as in “let there be light” and “let us create mankind in our likeness”/character. Is.45:23!) 12 And again Isaiah says, “The root of Jesse will come, even he who arises to rule the nations. In him the nations will trust [elpizó - to expect, hope for, anticipate].”

     13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing! So that by the POWER of the Holy Spirit you may ABOUND in hope [elpis - expectation, hope, trust, confidence, from elpō - to anticipate, welcome – properly, expectation of what is sure]. (Our trust depends on letting our conscience be appeased by that strong happening and image of the faithful love and earnestness of God toward us - Christ Crucified, which surely? There was no other way, as it has to cover and work for even the most cruel, vile and merciless, and for the most lost of us, throughout this unavoidable and all important contrast we call history - which is obviously not done yet.)

1 - The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave to him to show to his servants “what things it behooves (is sure?) to happen in quickness”. And he sent it by his angel to his servant John. 2 Who bears witness to the message of God and to the life and works of Jesus Christ, even to all that he saw. (John talked about himself in this way also in his gospel account/recollection.) 3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy [not everyone has a scripture scroll] and blessed are those who hear it and keep what is written in it, for the time is near. (When it’s understood, the time approaches!? And blessed are those who hear.)

     4 John, to the seven churches that are in Asia —

     Grace to you and peace from he who is and who was and who is to come, and from the seven spirits (“seven angels of the churches”?) who are before his throne, 5 and from Jesus Christ the faithful witness, the firstborn from death, and the ruler of kings upon earth. (Rules kings, a repeated theme in both old and new testaments, ‘code’ for it makes no sense to make wars against kings? Instead say prayers.) To he who loves us and has freed us from our sins [hamartia - missing the mark] by his blood (life given) 6 and has made us (who are being saved/rescued, from death and its cause, now) to be a kingdom. A kingdom of priests to his God and Father. (To serve! When? Especially during the latter part of the Lord’s long second advent? The advent a longer and wider version of his first so brief one. Initially some Pharisees, etc? Rich man, Lazarus conditions of inner outside of the light darkness? Even like the outside of the vision narrative of Rev.22 ..But 144,000 plus a great crowd from all nations serving ..called reigning, for to do his works, is surely? to reign.)

     And to him gLory and dominion forever and ever! Amen! 7 Behold, he is coming with the clouds, and EVERY eye will see him (on GWTJ ‘day’) and anyone who pricked/pierced him, and all tribes of earth will mourn because of [epi - on, upon, what fits, on account of] him (regrets, etc? Gut wrenching remorse experienced by some. Think cruel despots, etc.) Even so. Amen. 

     8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (Who forever was, and who forever shall be.)
