 Gospel Verses ๐Ÿ“ฌ⭐️

    Matthew 26:1-13

1 - When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, 2 “As you know, Passover begins in two days, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified.” (The entire Spring holy week, with its three holy days was often called either Passover, or Unleavened Bread - helping to veil just how very perfectly Jesus fulfilled the Spring holy days by this first, so brief, advent. The ancient Hebrew holy days came in two sets, Spring and Fall.

3 At that same time the leading priests and elders were meeting at the residence of Caiaphas, the high priest, 4 and they conspired to arrest Jesus covertly and to kill Him. 5 “But not during the festival,” they said, “or there may be a riot among the people.”

6 Meanwhile, Jesus was in Bethany at the home of Simon the leper (who had previously had leprosy). 7 A woman came up to Jesus with an alabaster flask of very expensive ointment, and she poured it on his head as he reclined at table.

8 When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. 9 “It could have been sold for a high price and the money given to the poor.”

10 Aware of this, Jesus said, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11 The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12 By pouring this fragrant oil on me, she has prepared me for burial. 13 I tell you the truth, wherever the Good News is proclaimed throughout the world, what she has done will also be told.”

Note: the Greek word Christ/Christos means anointed one.

        Paul’s Letter to Titus

        ~ Titus 3:8-15 ~

8 These things are trustworthy. And I want you to stress them, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. 9 But avoid foolish controversies, quarrels, fights about Moses' teachings/the Law, and (in Paul and Titus’ day) arguments about genealogies. All this is useless and worthless. 10 If people are causing divisions among you, give a first and second warning. After that, have nothing more to do with them. 11 For you know that such a person has gone astray and is [hamartia - ] missing the mark, being [autokatakritos - from autos - self, and katakrino - judgment, judged] - by their own self (character? actions? fruit) proven wrong.

12 I am planning to send either Artemas or Tychicus to you. As soon as one of them arrives, do your best to meet me at Nicopolis, for I have decided to stay there for the winter. 13 Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos with their trip. See that they are given everything they need. 14 And let our people learn to devote themselves to good works, so as to help cases of urgent need, and not be unfruitful. 15 Everybody here sends greetings. Please give my greetings to the believers—all who love us. May God’s grace be with you all.
