John 12:20-36
20 Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast. (Of Passover and Passover/Unleavened Bread Week.) 21 They came to Philip (disciple, Greek name) who was from Bethsaida (Greek leaning area) in Galilee, and asked him, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.”
22 Philip told Andrew about it, and they went together and told Jesus.
23 Jesus replied, “Now the time has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.” (After which - like a door opening - the Good News for all message, is proclaimed to the nations - no longer only to Israel - after Israel’s rejection through “blindness”.) 24 “I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it produces many more. 25 Whoever loves his life loses it, and whoever hates [misรฉล – hate, detest, love less - on a comparative basis to love someone or something less than someone/something else] their life in this (worldly) world, will keep it for eternity. [Literal - “will keep it to life aionion”.] 26 Anyone wanting to serve me must follow me, and where I am, there will my servant be also. Anyone who serves me my Father will honor.
27 Now my soul is deeply troubled. Should I pray, ‘Father, save me from this hour’? But this is the very reason I came! 28 Father, bring glory to your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” (Are we to think it was to appease His great ‘wrath’? Which actually, surely? is cause and effect. No, it appeases EVERY guilty conscience. Has to do so for even the most despotic and predatory among us(!!) (Followed by gut wrenching remorse, which surely! Is how it should be! And is an image strong enough to heal every fragile psyche, because - 1Tim.4:10, “God is savior of all” - one of the “alls” translators didn’t add the word “things” to!
29 When the crowd heard the voice, some thought it was thunder, while others declared an angel had spoken to him.
30 Jesus answered, “This voice has come for your sake, not mine. 31 Now judgment is upon this world, now the prince of this world will be cast out.” (The beginning of that sure to be completed process or determination-Greek word prognosis.)
32 “As for Me, if I am lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself.” 33 He said this to indicate how he was going to die (lifted up on an execution cross).
34 The crowd spoke up, “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah will remain forever, so how can you say, ‘The Son of Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘Son of Man’?”
35 Jesus replied, “My light will shine for you just a little longer. Walk in the light while you can, so the darkness will not overtake you. Those who walk in darkness cannot see where they are going.
36 Believe in the light while you have the light, so that you may become children of light.” After this, Jesus went away and not knowing where he went, the people couldn’t follow.

Peter’s First Letter
~ 1 Peter 1:1-7 ~
1 - This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s people who are pilgrims scattered throughout the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. 2 Chosen according to God the Father’s determination [greek “prognosis] to be made sacred and holy into/by compliance [hypakoแธ - from akoรบล - to hear, and hypรณ - beneath, i.e. submission to what is heard] and by the sprinkling of the blood (and life,๐๐ท) of Jesus the Christ. Grace and peace be yours in abundance.
3 All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth - we have been born again - into a living hope [elpis - expectation] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from death [nekrรณs - adjective, derived from nekys - a corpse, a dead body – dead; literally, what lacks life, not able to respond to impulses], 4 and into an inheritance kept in the heavens (in the forever) for you. An inheritance that is pure, imperishable, and unfading. It will never perish spoil or fade. 5 And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see.
6 In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer all sorts of griefs and troubles (of this life). 7 These are so your genuine faith - which is more valuable than gold that perishes when (it too) is purified/tested by fire - may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus, the Messiah, is revealed. (When Jesus returns and begins his long second advent.)
