    John 13:21-38

21 After Jesus had said this, He became troubled in spirit and said, “Truly, I tell you, one of you will betray me.” 22 The disciples looked at one another, uncertain of who he spoke. 23 One of the disciples whom Jesus loved, was next to Jesus at the table. (John) 24 Simon Peter motioned to him and said, “Ask him which one he means.”

25 So the disciple leaned toward Jesus and asked, "Lord, who is it?"

26 “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have dipped it in the dish” Jesus said. Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. 27 As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. Jesus said to him, "Hurry and do what you must!"

28 None of the others at the table knew what Jesus meant. 29 Some thought, because Judas had the moneybag, Jesus was telling him, “Buy what we need for the feast,” or that he should give something to the poor. (It’s thought the “last supper” was the Passover meal. It wasn’t. Jesus is the Passover meal! ๐Ÿž+๐Ÿท=⛲️๐Ÿ•Š️)

30 So Judas left at once, going out into the night. 31 After Judas had gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man will be given glory [doksรกzล - glory, renown, magnified, to ascribe weight by recognizing real substance] and he will bring glory to God. 32 This will glorify God, and if it glorifies God, God will glorify me and that he will do quickly.

33 My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jewish leaders, so I tell you now. Where I am going, you cannot come. 34 So now I give you a new commandment, love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love each another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

36 Simon Peter asked him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus replied, “Where I am going” (to be crucified, then resurrected) “you cannot follow now, but you will follow later.” (Into perfection, “putting on immortality” at the Lord’s [full] return.)

37 Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you!” 38 Then Jesus answered, “Will you really lay down your life for me? Very truly I tell you, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times!”

          Peter’s First Letter

           ~ 1 Peter 2:17-25 ~

17 Respect everyone and show special love for God's people. Honor God and respect the Emperor. 18 You bond servants (employees) must submit yourselves to your masters (employers) and show them complete respect, not only to those who are kind and considerate, but also to those who are jerks.  (Paraphrased!) 19 For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment. 20 But what honor is it to be punished for some wrong you have done or because of your own foolishness? Yet God will bless you, if you have to suffer for doing something good. 21 For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps. 22 He never sinned, nor ever lied. 23 When they hurled their insults at him, he did not retaliate; when he suffered, he made no threats. Instead, he entrusted himself to the One who judges justly.
