Hebrews 6:12-18  Luke 2:39-52

             ☀️ A.M. Hebrews 6:12-18

12 We aught not be spiritually sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. 13 When God made the promise to Abraham, he swore by his own self and his own name. This is because there is none greater than he. 14 And what he said was, “Surely - I will bless you, and multiply you.” 15 And so Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise.

     16 We swear by something greater than our self, and in disputes, an oath is final. {Notarized, stamped, sealed.} 17 So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise, the - unchangeable character - of his purpose - he guaranteed it with an oath (Isaiah 45:23).

     18 And so by these two unchangeable things {the promise/oath, and} it’s impossible for God to lie, we flee to him for refuge. And we hold fast to the hope that’s set before us, due to such strong encouragement.

     [The word translated encouragement, is the Greek, paraklésis - which means comfort, appeal, consolation, urging, exhortation, encouragement. It’s root is paraclete, paráklētos - Jesus said to the disciples, “I am sending the promise of my Father upon you. But stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high” (Lk.24:49). Earlier he had said “I am going to the Father ..I will ask him, and he’ll give you another Helper (paráklētos) to be with you to the age/aion” (Jn.14:16). {Surprise, the very Spirit/Presence of God, Father himself!} The helper, advocate, paráklētos, is from the words, pará which means “from close-beside”, and kaléō - to call, make a call. {Who calls? God calls.} Also means “a legal advocate who makes the right judgment-call because close beside”.]

39 - And when Mary and Joseph had done everything according to the Law of the LORD, they returned to their own town of Nazareth, in Galilee. 40 And the child (Jesus) grew and became strong. He was filled with wisdom, and the favor of God was upon him.

     41 His parents went to Jerusalem every year for the Feast of Passover. 42 And when he was twelve, they went up as was their habit, 43 but this time, when the festival was over and they were returning home, they didn’t know Jesus had stayed behind. 44 Thinking he was in the group, they went a day's journey, before they began to look for him among their relatives and friends. 45 And when they didn’t find him, they returned to Jerusalem, searching for him.

     46 After three days they found him in the temple. He was sitting among the teachers, listening to them, and asking them questions. 47 All who heard him were amazed at his understanding and at his answers.

     48 When Joseph and Mary saw him, they were astonished. And his mother said, “Son! Why have you treated us so? Behold, your father and I have been searching for you in great distress.” 49 But he said, “Why were you looking for me? Didn’t you know I must be in my Father's house?”

     50 They didn’t really understand what he meant. 51 And he went with them, to his hometown of Nazareth, always obedient to them.

     And Mary treasured up all these things in her heart. 52 And the boy Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with both God and man.

     [Luke likely wrote his accounts largely by interview. He was a Greek doctor who met Paul when Paul was on the second of his three missionary travels. Four, if we count the journey to Rome “in chains”.]

            ☀️ Philippians 3:15-21

15 - Let those of us who are mature remember these things.

     {It’s not easy to stay anchored in the solid, onward Truth. There are many distractions, many doctrines, teachings and attitudes. But! 2Tim.3:16 says “all scripture is for training”. Training for what? Do we want to miss it.. be a trainee later? When we could’ve served during the Lord’s long (glorious, at times dramatic) second advent.. also somewhat during this life if possible. (“All scripture” is one of the times the word all wasn’t changed to all things.) What if that advent is a longer, full scope version of his first so brief one? Isn’t that more logical? Sure, initial conditions during GWT judgment ‘day’ for some (few?) may be as portrayed in the rich man and Lazarus parable, and the outside of the vision narrative of Revelation 22 ..as inner conditions, tongue parched for the water of life, gnashing of teeth.. Why not? Progresses to weeping, beating self up with many stripes.. But Jesus “will draw all” Jn.12:32, even the Hitlers, the Idi Ahmins, serial killers, child sex traffickers... But logically, they won’t get off easy. Not by a long shot. Can we imagine eventually, and for a long time, the totally. gut. wrenching. remorse?? Which is exactly how it should be. And does anything work upon the heart as well as heartfelt remorse?

     So how do we stay on course? The course set by God our Father? Should we wash our minds with the words of the world? Do we think the world cannot put on sheep’s clothing, and speak out of both sides of its mouth? Speaking like the wolf out of one side seems to be overlooked..

     What is the “washing of the word”? Some believers scoff at that idea.. so be it. Won’t last forever. ..Paul says hang onto what you learned, the message of and about Christ.}

    If in anything you think otherwise, God will reveal it to you. 16 Only let us hold true to what we have attained.

      17 Brothers and sisters, join in imitating me (Paul) and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. 18 For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ. 19 Their end is ruin, their god is their passions and they take pride in their shame. Their minds are set on the world. 20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior. The Lord Jesus, 21 who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him to subject all to himself. [Pas - all, in this verse and many others, is usually changed to read “all things”.]

            🌙 Matthew 21:33-46

33 - “Listen to another parable,” Jesus said. “There was a master/mister of a house who planted a vineyard. He put a fence around it, dug a winepress, and built a tower. Then he leased it to caretaker tenants, and went to a faraway land. 34 And when the season for fruit drew near, he sent messengers to the tenants to get his share of the profits.

     35 But the tenants took his messengers and beat one, killed another, and stoned yet another. 36 A little later he sent other messengers, more than the first. But they did the same thing. 37 Finally he sent his son, saying, ‘They’ll respect my son!’ 38 But when the tenants saw the son, they said to one another, ‘This is the heir. Come, let’s kill him and we’ll keep this inheritance.’ 39 So they took him, threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

     40 So when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?”

     41 The leaders (Pharisees, and chief priests) said to him, “He will put those wretches to a miserable end! And will let out the vineyard to other tenants, who will give him the profits in their season.”

     42 And he said, “Have you never read in the Scriptures - ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the chief stone. This was the LORD’s doing, and it’s marvelous in our eyes’?

     43 Therefore I’m telling you, the kingdom of God will be taken away from you, and given to a people producing its fruits. 44 And whoever falls upon this stone will be broken, but when it falls upon someone, it will crush them.” {70 CE. judgment, cause and effect, the shield of God’s Presence having faded.}

     45 When the chief priests and the Pharisees heard his parables, they perceived that he was speaking about them. 46 And although they were seeking to arrest him, they feared the crowds, because they held him to be a prophet. {Afraid the crowd would stone them, Lk.20:6. They had powerful seats, and sought to retain those seats, but they couldn’t get too out of hand/iron fisted. Why Jesus’ arrest would be under cover of night and away from the crowds that gathered around him.}

🌙 [Jesus continues his prayer.] 12 - “While I was with them, I have kept them in your name [onoma - name, character, fame, reputation, cause] that you’ve given to me. I’ve guarded them, and not one of them has been lost except the son of destruction [apóleia - destruction, ruin, loss, perdition/utter ruin {but “God is savior of all” 1Tim.4:10}] just as the scripture said.

     13 But now I’m coming to you, and these things I speak while still in the world, so they may have my joy in them. 14 I’ve given them your word, your message. [Lógos - from légō - speaking to a conclusion - a word, being the expression of a thought, a saying, a common term - sharing a message, discourse, communication, speech, a broad term meaning reasoning expressed by words.] “And the world has hated them.      {1Cor.3:14-17 talks about error and falsehood as polluting our temple - (Paul wrote) - “If anyone’s work they’ve done, endures, they’ll receive a reward {they’ll share in the reward?} Do you not know? You are a temple of God and the Spirit {Presence) of God dwells in you? If anyone pollutes God's temple..” ..Remember the dude who reached out his hand to steady the Ark of the Covenant? It’s best if our message is holy and not holey..? About that dude, death is as a transplanting into an as yet untilled garden awaiting resurrection “into aionion kolasis” / eonian korrection / age of correction, the GWT ‘Day’. And the person is hades/not seen, being in a (temporary) state of being gone.}

     20 “I don’t ask only for these, but also for those who will believe in me through their testimony. 21 That they will all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you. That they also will be in us. And the world will believe that you have sent me. {Alas, fulfilled during long second advent? As there will be survivors of Armageddon as a thousand years later, who does the adversary go out and gather from all over the globe, to surround the millennial Jerusalem for another Armageddon ..Coincidentally, two of the three mentions of a “lake of fire” are at these two armageddon events.}

     22 “The glory that you’ve given me, Father, I give to them. So that they may be one, even as we are one. 23 I in them, and you in me. That they will become perfectly one, so the world will know that you sent me and that you love them even as you love me.

Behaving only in the {lower} human {selfish, self interest, self first} way? 4 For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” are you not being merely divisive? {With its eventual dislike? And like the world can progress to hatred, perhaps war?      10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more determined and diligent to confirm (lock in) your calling and election. For if you reflect these qualities you’ll not fall away. 11 And there’ll be an open entry provided for you. An entrance into the enduring kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. {At his (full) return.}

     12 Therefore I plan to always remind you of all this, even though you know the truth and are established in it. 13 I think it right, to stir you to a lasting remembrance of these things, as long as I am in this body. For we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. 17 For when he received honor and glory from God the Father, and the voice was borne to him by the kingly glory saying, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.” 18 We ourselves heard this very voice coming from heaven, for we were with him on the holy mountain. 19 And besides all that, we have the prophetic word fully confirmed (acted out before our eyes) to which we all do well to pay attention, as to a lamp giving its light in a dark place, until the day dawns! And the morning star rises in your hearts, 20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is for someone's own interpretation. {Forget about “it’s all about me.”} 21 For no prophecy ever came by the will of man, but men spoke from God, as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit{/Presence of God}.

37 - On the last day of the feast, the “last great day” (Lev.23:36) Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink! 38 Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of their heart will flow rivers of living water.’” 39 Now he said this about the Spirit{/Presence of God} which those who believing in him would receive, for the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

     40 When they heard him say this, some of the people said, “This really is the Prophet!” 41 Others said, “This is the Christ!” But others said, “Is the Christ to come from Galilee? 42 Has not the Scripture said the Messiah comes from the offspring of David, and Bethlehem, the village of David?” 43 So there was a division among the people concerning him. 44 Some of them {leaders} wanted to arrest him. But no one laid hands upon him. (They had sent officers out to arrest him.)

     45 The officers then went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”46 The officers answered, “No one ever spoke like this man!” 47 The Pharisees answered, “Have you been deceived as well? 48 Have any of the authorities or the Pharisees believed in him? 49 But this crowd that doesn’t know the law, is accursed!” {Beneath us?! Is the ignorant rabble!?} 50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus before (by night) but who was one of them, said, 51 “Does our law judge a man without first giving him a hearing and learning about his works?” 52 They answered him, “Are you from Galilee too?! Everything I know

  In 3.5 Short Paragraphs

Is.24:20 is rev.10:4. (Test? rev.13:13 pinpoints an office.) Mt.13:30 is both rev.16:14-15-16 and/oR Mt.25:1-13 -> to serving called reigning during a long 2nd advent.. crowns of Life, not metal. Metals are “the world” (Dn.2:36-45, 7:7,19 (hello?) The world has donned sheep’s clothing and mask slippage goes unnoticed.. But on a Good note, Ps.91,46,23, Rev.7:15-17, Lk.1:33, Is.11:7, 1Tim.4:10.

We are at Rev.7:1,3 after the 1st. 6:12-17 event, described as a whirlwind of its entire effects, first to last, at the beginning of the vision, skews and veils the vision - which vision - Father loves a good riddle, hiding things in plain sight - is told 3 times.

[1]6:1-2 to 11:19; [2]ch.12, vs.17 w/ mt.23:39; and [3]13:1 to 19:11 ..the three rejoin at the 7th trumpet.. Jesus went (basically) from ascension to rev.4. All weeping, gnashing of teeth is fruit, cause and effect.. the dis-ease as part of the cure/immunity. 1Tim.4:10, Jn.12:32 and on into infinity.. as to the CU / UR in the scripture. Translation, lack of belief changed “all” greek pas into “all things”. It was big bang into universe as is, but a clock not running, then set in motion. There’s two obvious outlines of all this. The week plus one. And the Spring - and - Fall holy days of Lev.23, the 1st short advent, and the much longer, stretched out 2nd advent. Rev.21:1-5, Is.11:7. Rev.20 as the crests of waves only, and Rev.22 has narrative that is outside of the vision, Mt.25:10.

(After being beaten, flogged and jailed in Philippi) 1 - They passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, and came to Thessalonica, where there was a synagogue, 2 so Paul went in, as was his custom, and on three Sabbaths he reasoned from the Scriptures [how Jesus fulfilled the suffering messiah prophecies, and Isaiah 53:4 - “Surely He has borne our infirmities..”] 3 explaining and proving that it was predicted the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead [Ps.16:10] and saying, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you is the Christ” [Christos - Christ, anointed one, messiah, from the Greek verb χρίω-chrio - to anoint]. 4 And some who were there were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas, as did many of the devout Greeks and quite a few of the leading women. 5 But the leaders were jealous, so they sought out some men from the market square. And persuaded them to form a mob and a rabble, and set the city in uproar. {Hired agitators.} They attacked the house of Jason, 6 and forced him and some of the brothers out into the crowd, and then dragged them before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here, 7 and Jason has received them! Here at the monastery (member one, lol) we strive to “keep sabbath”/Quiet time with God’s Spirit/Presence and the scripture - and the Lord Jesus is there too - in the morning for as long as possible. With an afternoon and an evening “moments” for prayer, thanksgiving, reading, listening ..the modern “sacrifices”. This is a formula! Very good for healing, and will keep our ship on course - 3x4 - 3 times daily within God’s wondrous 4 seasons, a schedule the Lord gave me many years ago ..I was sitting on a bench ‘here at the monastery’ under some plum trees and grape vines..

     20 Then after supper he took another cup of wine in his hands, and said, “This cup is the new covenant which is sealed by my blood, and is being poured out for you.” [A blood oath. A promise sealed in blood. There is no stronger oath. How can we not “believe”? And thus “receive”.]

     21 “But behold, the hand of he who betrays me, is with me at the table. ..22 The Son of Man will go as it has been determined and decreed. But what sorrow is awaiting the one who betrays him.” (Imagine what sorrow! What heart wrenching remorse. Including much later, which will seem like but a moment, when then in the bright radiance of God and Jesus’ presence.] 23 And the disciples began to question among theirselves which of them would do such a thing. (The one “who kept the money bag”.)

The Corinthian believers had written to Paul with certain questions about marriage. His response continued —  I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried person is concerned with the Lord’s works, how they can best please the Lord. And how to best be devoted to him in both life and spirit. But the married person is anxious about worldly things, how to please the other (32-34). 35 I am only saying this for your own benefit. Not to restrict you! But that you may have undivided devotion to the Lord. 36 But if someone thinks they are not behaving properly toward their betrothed (engaged) and passions are strong, they should marry. It is no sin. 37 But if they have decided firmly in their heart not to marry, and there be no urgency and able to control the passions, they do well not to marry. [“Especially considering the late hour” Israel and the age was at.] 38 So the person who marries does well, and the person who doesn’t marry does even better. 39 They are bound to each other as long as they live. But if one dies, they are free to marry again, to another who belongs to the Lord. 40 But in my opinion it would be better to stay single. And I think I am giving you counsel from God’s Spirit/Presence when I say this. (In his prophecy, Jesus had said to pray their fleeing was not in winter, and woe to those with child or nursing little ones.)

Discipleship

Luke 9:1 says "Jesus called together His twelve apostles and gave them complete power over all demons and diseases.." Which is how it reads in the bible version I'm reading right now. I was wondering if the original Greek word used here was "apostle" or "disciple" (because to me apostle means teacher and disciple means follower and student). It wasn't that easy however! For starting with the Greek concordance, I looked up "apostle" and found it was not used in Luke 9:1, but when I looked up "disciple" I found that wasn't used either(!) What was written originally was "And having called together the twelve he gave them power and authority over all the demons and diseases to heal.." (from the "Interlinear NASB-NIV Parallel New Testament in Greek and English"). I then thought to myself that "the twelve" is likely closer to "apostle" then "disciple". It's important because I presently know three people battling stage four cancers.
- All in all, I decided, I will continue my prayers and encouragement to them, because "apostle" or "disciple" Jesus said many times things like "what ever things you desire, when you pray, believe you have them and you shall have them.." and "where two or more agree in prayer as touching anything upon earth, my Father in heaven will hear them and give it to them.." (Well, these are paraphrased from my memory.. which is faulty at best and getting worse as I get older! But you get my drift I hope..)
- However, and in addition, when I went back to the concordance (Strong's Exhaustive) I found that apostle means "messenger" and "sent out"(one).. (And "disciple" is "learner, instructed one".)
