GospeL Verses ~ Mark 1:14-20

14 - After John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 saying, “The time is here, the kingdom of God is close at hand, repent (and turn now to Me) and believe the gospel.”

16 As he was walking along the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon (Peter) and his brother Andrew casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, “Come and follow me, and I will make you to be fishers of men.”18 And so they left their nets and followed him. 19 And going on a little further, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending nets. 20 And he called to them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired workers and followed him.

                ~ Hebrews 7:25-28 ~

25 He [the forever high priest, Jesus, Son of God] is able to save/rescue/make safe to the furthest extreme those who draw near to God through him. This is because he ever lives to make intercession for them. 26 It is fitting that we have a high priest who is holy, innocent, unstained, separated from sinners (far superior to being imperfect) and who is exalted above the heavens. 27 He has no need, like the previous high priests [of a temporary priesthood for the people] to offer sacrifices daily. First for the priests own sins! And then also for those of the people. But the new priest did this once for all, when he offered up his own self [as the sacrifice]. 28 For the law appointed mere men in their weakness, as high priests, but the word of the oath, which came later than the law, appoints a Son who has been made perfect forever. (Tested as perfect in the refiner’s fire like silver and gold.)

WeekLy BooK oF Acts 5 17-42

 a paraphrased study

17 - But the high priest rose up, and all who were with him, that is, the party of the Sadducees, for they were filled with jealousy. 18 They rose up and arrested the apostles and put them in prison.19 But then, during the night, an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and led them out, and he said to them, 20 “Go to the temple and speak to the people all the words of this Life.” 21 And when they heard this, they entered the temple at daybreak and they began to teach.

In the morning, the high priest and the Sadducees came, and called together the council, all the senate of the sons of Israel, and they sent to the prison to have them brought in. 22 But when the officers came, they didn’t find them, so they returned and reported, 23 “We found the prison securely locked and the guards standing at the doors, but when we opened them we found no one inside.” 24 Now when the captain of the temple and the chief priests heard this, they were greatly perplexed. 25 Then someone came and told them, “Look! The men you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people.” 26 Then the captain with the officers went and brought them to the council, yet not by force, for they were afraid of the people, that they would throw stones.

27 The high priest said, 28 “We strictly charged you to not teach in this name! And here you have filled Jerusalem with your teaching! You intend to bring this man's blood upon us!” 29 But Peter and the apostles answered, “We must obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised Jesus, whom you killed by having him hung on a tree. 31 God has exalted him at his right hand as Leader and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit (/Presence of God) which God gives to those who obey him.”

33 Listening to this, they were enraged and wanted to kill them. 34 But a Pharisee of the council named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law who was held in honor by the people, stood up and gave orders to put the men outside for a while. 35 And then he said, “Men of Israel, take care what you do with these men. 36 For before these days Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody, and a number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was killed, and all who followed him were scattered and it all came to nothing. 37 After him Judas the Galilean rose up in the days of the census and drew away some of the people after himself. He too perished, and all who followed him were dispersed. 38 So in this case, keep away from these men and let them alone, for if this plan or undertaking is of man, it will fail. 39 But if it is of God, you will not be able to defeat them. You might even be found to be opposing God!” So they took his advice, 40 and when they had called in the apostles, they had them beat and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and then they let them go. 41 Then they left the council, rejoicing they were counted worthy to suffer for the name [onoma - name, authority, cause]. 42 And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they continued to teach and proclaim that the Christ/Messiah is Jesus. [Christ - Christos - anointed one, Messiah; XristΓ³s - from xríō - anoint with olive oil – properly, the anointed one, the Christ - Hebrew, Messiah.]

GospeL Verses ~ Luke 3:23-4:15

23 - Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son, as was supposed, of Joseph, the son of Heli.. (snipped) 38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

4:1 - And Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from his baptism in the Jordan and was led by the Spirit to the wilderness. 2 And for forty days, he was being tempted (harassed) by the devil. He was fasting during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry. 3 And the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.” 4 But Jesus answered, “It’s written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

5 And the devil took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time, 6 and said to him, “I will give to you all this glory and authority, for it has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I will! 7 If you, then, will worship me, it will be yours!” 8 And Jesus answered, “It’s written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve and worship.’”

9 Then he took him to Jerusalem and set him on the pinnacle of the temple and said, “If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from this height, 10 for it’s written, ‘He will command his angels to guard you, 11 and they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.’” 12 But Jesus answered, “It is written, ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” 13 And when the devil had ended every temptation, he left him until a later opportunity.

14 And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit of God to Galilee, and the news of him went out through all the surrounding region. 15 And he taught in their synagogues, and was praised by all.

18 - Another way of saying it, a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and unprofitableness - 19 for the law made nothing perfect (thAt was not its actual intention - otherwise it would have worked for that). And a BETTER hope [elpis - expectation, hope] (imo, expectation) is introduced through-which we draw-near to God. (And in this one, we are not able to boast, the former one having proven that.)

20 And it was not without an oath. For those who formerly became priests under the system through Moses, were made priests without an oath. 21 But this one [Jesus] was made a priest with an oath - “The Lord has sworn. And will not change his mind - ‘You are a priest forever.’” (Unfading.)

22 This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant. 23 The former priests were many in number, but they could not continue in the priesthood, because they, like all men, die. 24 But his (the Son’s) priesthood is permanent, because he is unfading.

GospeL Verses ~ Luke 3:15-22, Mark 1:9-13

15 - There was a spirit of expectation and people were wondering if John might be the Christ. 16 But John answered them saying, “I baptize you with water, but he who is mightier than I is coming! The strap of whose sandals I’m not worthy to unlace. He is the one who will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. 17 His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff (from off the wheat) he will burn with the fire that does not go out.” (Imperfection-corruption- decay—think compost. Decay, the worm that doesn’t quit.)

18 And so with many other exhortations John preached good news to the people.19 But Herod the tetrarch, who had been called out by him for all the evils he had done and for Herodias, his brother's wife, 20 added this to it all, he locked John up in prison.

21 But at the time when all the people were being baptized, and Jesus too, and was praying, the heavens were opened, 22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon him in bodily form, like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son. With you I am well pleased.”

Mark 1:9 - In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan River. 10 And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens opened and the Spirit descending upon him like a dove. 11 And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son. With you I am well pleased.” 12 Then the Spirit immediately drove him out into the wilderness. 13 And he was in the wilderness for forty days, being tempted by Satan. And was with the wild animals, with angels ministering to him.

A Covering Seraphim

I watched a video, a short, and then later realized in my studies has been coming up the phrase “about to happen”.. And now I find myself thinking of it in terms of this — I’ve thought to myself how patient God is, how he waited a long time for the first bound to occur rebellious thought to happen and fully mature, before creating the universe and man and woman.

“In the beginning God..” alone. Undifferentiated. Then became the “only begotten” - only straight out from God one, the “firstborn over all creation” - the Son.

Sometime later.. Father and Son create spirit beings, the angels. And that some “left their first place” shows they were endowed with thinking and reasoning ability. Using the King of Tyre - as a type - the occurrence of the first bound to occur stray and rebel thinking is made mention of (in Ezek.28:14). The adversary, the serpent in Eden was a “covering cherub/cherubim/seraphim”. See link to the short below, and Rev.12:9.

So now I realize, covering seraphim of what? Eden. All ready and set up, for the seditious thought of a covering seraphim that “was about to occur”. And the ark of the covenant portrays this whole story..?! The covering seraphim (plural) over creation (angels helped ‘build’ doing God’s bidding?) ..And one day while looking down and covering with wings stretched out.. the first fully formed imperfect and seditious way of thinking - “I - will be God.. I will! Ascend..! My throne, my seat above His.”

A first straying/imperfection, which set in motion the change of everything. And by this, God engineered it so that “all in heaven and earth” take this unavoidable journey/lesson all together at once. Otherwise each thinking, reasoning, thus able to make choices being, would stray in their own timing, one now, another later.. etc. etc. and etc., taking virtually ‘forever’. And what a disorganized mess!

Two major questions concerning life - what are the options for a creation? [1] A total ant farm? Or [2] not? And second question, just how do you create genuinely able to think and reason beings, aNd, keep paradise/perfection intact?

God being 100% unfettered Genius, and who “is perfect” (mt.5:48) is up to the task. He has “subjected all (of us mortals) to disobedience/straying” (Ro.11:32) all at once. As sooner or later all are bound to have a questioning God thought. Which is imperfection, the opposite of Life/Perfection, God.

And so it is that Jesus “will draw all” (Jn.12:32). He said - “All those in the tombs/graves” — and God surely(?) is Life, and “is perfect” so straying/imperfect can never work — they “will hear God’s voice and will come forth” (from the graves/tombs) “some into the resurrection of life” (into THE millennium and long second advent, to serve called reigning.. for to do His works is surely to reign.. crown of Life, not metal). “And some in the resurrection into the” (GWT) “judgment” ‘day’ (Jn.5:28-29, discernment day?) which elsewhere He calls agelasting correction [“kolasin aionion” oR “korrection eonian”] Mt.25:46. The completing of drawing all! And surely(?) it’s a same process of refinement/correction/learning for all. The crucible being life as we presently know it - this unavoidable, all important contrast - until vivification either at 1Cor.15:52,53 or at Rev.21:5, 1Cor.15:24-28. All shall have character, and thought, which is clear as crystal. Humanity and creation sealed.

Lake of fire is earthly prophecy.

Oxygen, air.. breath of life, this life and living is on fire.. Ever had a compost pile? Life as presently known - imperfect - is a living parable of the decomposing ‘apple’/or fruit, and its worm (decay) that does not quit.

The good news of the Kingdom (and of the resurrection) is - “God will tabernacle/dwell with mankind.. everyone living under vines and fruit trees.. the lion will eat straw like the ox. The bear will graze with the cow, with their young will pasture and lie down together” Rev.21:3, Micah 4:4, Isaiah 11:7. “His kingdom will never end” Lk.1:33.

Link to the short - the serpent is a seraphim

7 - He (“John the Baptist”) said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath that is coming? 8 Bear fruits in keeping with repentance. And don’t just say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father’!” (Or ‘I go to church on Sunday’ or ‘Didn’t I give to missions?’ etc.) “For I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. 9 Even now the axe is laid to the root of the trees! Every tree that doesn’t bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into a fire.” [Earthly. John the Baptizer was prophesying of 70 CE.]

10 And the crowds asked him, “What then shall we do?” 11 And he answered, “Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none. And whoever has food, do likewise.” 12 Tax collectors also came to be baptized and they asked him, “Teacher, what shall we do?” 13 And he said, “Collect no more than you are supposed to!” 14 Soldiers also asked him, and he said, “Don’t demand money from anyone by threats or by falsely accusing. [Law - nΓ³mos - law, as "the Law" or "law" as a general principle, or both simultaneously, determined by the context (and in this, it is both - the Law, which is now superior, summed up as “love”. And it is a change in the ruling principle, under the new priesthood of Jesus).]

1 - The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

2 As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, “Behold, I send my messenger before you, who will prepare the way, 3 the voice of one crying in the wilderness - ‘Prepare the way of the Lord, make a straight path for him!’” 4 And so did John appear, baptizing in the wilderness and proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins [hamartia - missing the mark] (of perfection, and since God is Life and “is perfect” mt.5:48 — is that a paradox? Not for God.) 5 And all the region of Judea and all Jerusalem were going out to him and were being baptized by him in the river Jordan, and by it confessing their sins(/imperfection/not making the grade/wrongdoings, and wrong impulses and thoughts). 6 Now John was clothed with camel's hair and wore a leather belt around his waist and he ate (off the land) locusts and wild honey. 7 And he proclaimed a message, saying, “After me comes he who is far greater than I, the strap of whose sandals I’m not worthy to stoop down and untie. 8 I have baptized you with water, but HE will baptize you with the Holy Spirit(/Presence of God).”

4 - And see how great this man was to whom Abraham, the patriarch, gave a tenth of the spoils! 5 And the descendants of Levi, appointed to the priestly office, have a commandment/instruction in the law to take tithes from the people, that is, from their brothers, though their brothers are also descended from Abraham. 6 But this man, not descended from Abraham, received tithes from Abraham and blessed him to whom the promises were given. 7 It is beyond argument that one in an inferior office is blessed by one in the superior. 8 In the one case tithes are received by mortal (fading away) men, but in this case, was blessed by one of whom it seems does not fade. (So serves as a type and symbol of Jesus, who is high priest forever.) 9 One might even say that Levi himself, who receives tithes, paid tithes to Melchizedek through Abraham, 10 before he was yet born.
